I actually haven't read any of the posts yet, as this is the first time I've gotten on a computer for the last 5 or so days. I am at McCarran Airport, waiting for my plane ride home. I found this internet kiosk, and just had to log on and write a big thank you post to all of my friends on 2+2.

I have learned so much over the last few years by reading, posting, and debating poker with all of you. I can say with full confidence that if it were not for 2+2, I would not be sitting here right now at this computer, with the World Championship bracelet on my wrist. So, in a very real way, I owe it all to all of you.

I will certainly be reading and posting to 2+2 in the future, although I will be too busy over the next few days or weeks to even read all of your wonderful posts, let alone reply.

Thanks, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

The fact you even logged on in an airport to post this is outstanding. Shows that you'll be back in the 2+2 forums...once your whirlwind tour of the talk show circuit wraps up!

Enjoy the ride, we sure enjoyed following your victory!

Absolutely terrific job! Can not be said enough how your posts have improved my game, and I'm sure countless others. How you articulate complex concepts in a clear, concise manner has been a great boon. I wonder if tournament play will improve in the next year as many people track down your insightful posts. Best wishes to you and your family, well done!!!

Congrats Greg, I'm sure you'll get around to reading all the threads if you can afford a day off /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

We had at least two lots of 50 watching you in chatrooms, and these were mostly zoo posters, so goodness knows how many 'real' posters were sweating you too.

Thanks for taking the time to log in, the place has been absolutely nuts in every forum since about day 3 onwards.

Great playing

I had the pleasure of being at the Horseshoe watching you do your magic the last 3 days. One comment: the hand where Al Krux hit the spade on the river to double up at the final table--the pot was about 2M. You had lost a significant pot, but I saw you extend your hand to give him a well done. And you two shook hands. Not many players would have been so gracious after losing a hand like that. What a class act!

My best to you and your family.

No no, thank you Greg for the great ride in this WSOP. I'm sure I was one of thousands who watched as long as they could online at night, only to wake up the next morning to log back on and see what I missed. I'm probably gonna lose my job for being late every day this week, but I'm sure the advice you post here will launch me into a new poker career /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

See you at Foxwoods, and thanks again for a very exciting week!

LOL. Playing in the 5-5 NL game, this guy who had absolutely no concept how to play was talking some smack, saying how you got really lucky, etc etc, anyone could win with that kind of luck, and so forth. I was forced to point out to him that anyone would need to get extremely lucky to win, but that you were a fearsome player, and that kid wouldn't want you in his game. He grumbled a bit and didn't agree. I let it go. Ended up taking a few stacks from him. Of course, it might be easier to just brain him with one of your bricks of 100$ bills /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Greg,

Thank you for thinking of us as I am sure it is hard to keep every thing in perspective! It probably will take some time to sink in. Congrats on being the World Champion much less having $5 million added to your bankroll! You are now the 17th ranked player in the world this year World Player Rankings (http://www.cardplayer.com/player_of_the_year/?PHPSESSID=995a4347d9a35ea916fdf0735c862e8d).

I have greatly appreciated your posts over the past 6 1/2 years here on 2+2. You are one of several posters who have added so much value to my game as well as my life! It is great to hear that you will still be sharing your advice and perspectives here at 2+2.

Best wishes!

Thanks.

When we started these forums, this is exactly what we were hoping. Of course, we never thought that the current World Champion would be saying this, so it is very much appreciated.

For those who don't know, Greg has been posting with us from almost the very beginning of these forums in 1996. He has been a great contributor, and hopefully, now that his schedule will be a little bit busier, can still find some time to drop in.

Greg, best of luck to you and our compliments on a most deserving win.

Also, given the time that Greg has spent here over the years and the quality of his advice, he should make a great ambassador of poker.

best wishes,
Mason

Greg

About a year ago I sent you a mail stating that you had been the single most important reason why my tournament play had improved so much. I had mentioned you to a couple of my friends but none of them had bothered checking out your advice. These are the same people who were telling me on Friday that some unknown guy had won the WSOP.
“He’s no unknown”, I said, “that’s Fossilman, he’s the best”.

Great job Greg, I'm delighted for you, thanks for the ride this week.

Mason and David,

It was so appropriate of Greg to take the time to thank you guys for establishing an arena where amateurs and pros could debate poker to the betterment of all. The quality of the product you provide is responsible for attracting players like Greg, Jim Brier, Rick nebiolo, Dan hanson, skp, G. Ed Conly, Louis Landale, Vince, Abdul, and even Gary and Badger. They have all made their contributions to our knowledge but couldn't have if you guys didn't have the vision.

Congratulations to 2+2, Fossilman and all the people that have made these forums the place to learn about the best parts of poker.

OK, the image of you typing at the kiosk with the bracelet jangling sends chills down my spine. I pretended I was you this morning as I won my first $55+5 Turbo SitNGo ... think about that for a moment - people are pretending they're you. Maybe you're too modest to bask in that ... naah, bask in it.

Perhaps 2+2 should start selling fake gold bracelets with the letters "WWFD" (what would Fossilman do?) on them, and we can glance down at them when we have a tough decision...

congrats on the most impressive poker performance I have ever seen.

I randomly turned on the news (Scarborough Country) and it showed a clip of you winning, I was surprised by how happy it made me to see you win. I'm not even sure why I was happy to see you win, you spend all your time on the lame multi-table tournaments board, not the superior pot no-limit section (although this is probably the wrong time to criticize your focus on tournaments).

BTW, you are chubbier than I pictured you to be.

Interestingly enough, Greg, even if you owed all your winning entirely to the people in this forum (obviously not true), I bet that your advice has helped this forum (financially) more that it has helped you. $5M is a lot, but you have helped thousands make thousands.

Of course, Congratulations,

I'm a new poster here but have been lurking for over a year. I've read and benefited from a great number of your posts. Thank you and congratulations.

I hadn't been following the WSOP much. As I was reading through the Independant yesterday I read about your win in the weekly Poker column. I didn't recognise the name until it mentioned the nickname Fossilman. I then had a 'holy crap!' moment and had to log in to give my congrats.
