View Full Version : SEX AND POKER

07-13-2002, 02:19 PM
Going against the adage: Lucky in love but unlucky in gambling and vice versa, I think that having a satisfactory love life actually helps one's game. From personal experience, when I am relaxed, happy and content after "getting lucky", I seem to get luckier at the tables. Not all the time but most of the time. Is there any such explanation for this phenomenon that's true for most people? Some authorities in sports advised against sex before actual competion to conserve energy but they are the physical sports. When it comes to mental games such as poker or chess, perhaps most people can think more clearly after doing it and therefore have better results?

Our job is to relieve the stress you have before a long session. Just be sure to put your chips in the pot opposite-handed or you will give off a smell, err that would be tell !!!

Sex and Poker go hand in hand.....it's just because wINNING FEELS SOOOOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!

Honestly I was playing tonight with an 18 year girl, and I was talking with her during our game, saying I'm so lucky when it comes to Poker, she said to me, well you know what they say, Unlucky in gambling and you are lucky in love.

I LOVE POKER.

And i would love to Poker!

i usually jam the flop, but when i want to slowplay i just start weighing the preflop merits of JTs vs. KTs.

Anybody who thinks he's going to bang some girl and play better poker, is an idiot.

All it means is that his game has no structure, it is flapping in the breeze.

The cause-and-effect chain will go from bad play to losing money to malcontent.

If you are playing sloppy, the last thing you want is misplaced confidence.

Though I guess if you do it with a hot girl, you might feel better while losing.

The reason you feel off is because you're playing off, not the other way around.

Better your game, and you'll have pos EV the day your wife gets hit by a truck.

by the way, i've tried having sex WHILE playing poker. (the beauty of online gaming /images/smile.gif ) unfortunately i haven't found it to help my game too much. can't concentrate on the cards /images/smile.gif

"Better your game, and you'll have pos EV the day your wife gets hit by a truck."

i read worthless post after worthless post. but when i find a golden nugget of wisdom like this, it makes it all worth it.

I haven't found sex to lead to a good night at the tables, but I have found a good night at the tables to lead to sex. Especially if the waitress sees how much I'm up.

The world is a weird and ugly place, filled with strange thoughts and people, at the same time as it is beautiful. But the one thing that is none of that, that is just simple and selfish, is masturbation and sexuality. Sexuality and poker are far opposite ends of the spectrum.

I'll take a comparison from the world of schizophrenia to make my point. The schizophrenic isn't the one who thinks the policeman is part of an alien conspiracy. The schiophrenic is the one who gets all worked up about it, who cares, who overreacts to it emotionally, and let's it run his life.

Similarly, one cannot deny his own sexuality. But you have to recognize that it is but a trite sideshow in life. You have to say, okay, the policeman is an alien trying to control my thoughts, the voice in my head is a powerless figment, I would love to bang that waitress, but what matters is whether AQ is a folding hand.

And so, the reason one takes offense, is because it insults the reader to suggest he wants to hear this sort of thing, particularly from the writer. It is offensive to suggest he cares, and it is unsettling to hear from someone who does. The suggestion of not moving on, and rather letting my poker game be governed by horniness, is offensive.

And finally, as a guy, nothing is less interesting to me than the sexuality of other guys. I imagine, if I was some freaky dictator who ran the world with magical powers, I would insist all hints of the sexuality of other males be kept behind lead walls, and beyond the range of my X-ray vision.

On the other hand, I've heard from girls who masturbate against beach balls for example and, rather than being offended, I just feel sorry for the poor, twisted, little things.

PENIS! VAGINA! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

PENIS! VAGINA! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

PENIS! VAGINA! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

PENIS! VAGINA! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

PENIS! VAGINA! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

PENIS! VAGINA! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

If somebody says "penis" or "vagina," that is not really offensive, it's just kind of childish.

I think you're missing the finer points.

Hey, how about if someone asked if other people get good luck as well, from rubbing their "penises" against their hole cards. I'm not sure that would be offensive either, just kinda disappointing and weird.

Purely anecdotal, but I always thogh I played worse after having sex. Not enough 'killer instinct.' Or perhaps too much of a good mood.

On the other hand, I'm convinced that I play better when relaxed, and always try to take some vigorous exercise before a big game. I also make sure I stay in shape when I'm playing a lot.

I'd be interested in hearing from people who know if there are significant differences between the chemicals (endorphins?) produced through exercise and sex.

At 6am sex, unlike exercise, usually doesn't make me want to throw up, so IMO there has to be a chemical difference.

Poker...I don't even know her!

i always try to 'rub one off' before i get to the poker room (hopefully before leaving my house!!). i find that it relieves any sort of tension in that area, and lets me relax a bit, and allows me to concentrate more fully on the game. just sort of takes the edge off.

I agree Baggins, I do the same thing. However, I have a one hour ride to the casino, so I usually do it while driving.
