Congratulations to Greg! I am so inspired I have decided I need to take some serious measures if I want to be at the WSOP in 2005. I am excited that a 2+2'er won, but surprised by how few 2+2'ers actually went to the WSOP.
I have been playing online for several months now. I started in the basement like most players, making 3.5BB/hour in the .50/$1 game in December and January where I played about 100 hours each month. In February and March I played $1/$2 to the tune of about 2.5/BB per hour. In April I told my wife I would be playing poker online for a living. Pretty interesting stuff.
I am a bit old to be doing this and going back to get my degree, but that is our situation. She works full-time and I watch our 2-year old and play online when I can. I have agreed to put $250 into our checking account each week and $250 into our old credit card debt. So far so good playing mostly $2/$4 and scooping bonuses and Intercasinopoker et.al payments.
Now for the WSOP 2005. The only way for me to really plan a trip is to start saving now. I want to play in the first week, getting into the $2000 NL, $1000 NL and $1500 Limit and $1500 7-stud tournaments. With travel, lodging and food I will need $8000. This will be part one of my plan, and includes a manditory savings plan of $170 per week.
Since I am playing two games most of the time of $2/$4 limit, I will need to add a $25 NL game and play three games at a time, taking the NL profits out for savings. I will then have the first week of WSOP 2005 tournaments saved for in 47 weeks. How I will save another $7,000 for the last week ($3,000 NL tourny and some super sats and a 1 table sat) I don't know, but I'll work on it.
This may seem boring, but getting this down in written form really helps to get kicked-off on my goal. I'll post weekly with updates and questions from NL hands.
See you at the WSOP in 2005!
