109 left.

"Greg Raymer may have the toughest remaining table. He's sandwiched in between two very aggressive, tournament-toughened players in Mike Matuso and John Esposito, both bracelet winners with chips."

There should only be about ten tables left. ESPN can't be expected to get good TV coverage if a bunch of website reporters are getting in their way constantly. When there were 130 tables at the start of the tournament, I'm sure there was plenty of room for everybody.

He's gonna be all over tv. busted out some guy in a race with his pocket 5's against unimproved A-K hearts. Then he won another race, but i couldnt see what the hand was, but he got excited over this one and clapped his hands together and yelled out YEAH! making good solid plays and a little bit of luck it seems...go nicely together when trying to win a tourney /images/graemlins/wink.gif

How surreal will it be to see the hole cards of the other player and realize what they had to be thinking as he made what must have been many great plays/hands against them to make it this far??

(This based on that he'll get to as he’s been at the ESPN table)

Winning millions might be a bit surreal as well.... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since I was still a 2+2 virgin when they started (they have yet to stop) showing Moneymaker's run......I had no idea who won or made the final table until I watched. This made it a great show for me. I think the ratings will eb helped by less people knowing about it.

However, the arguement against is that I along with many players I know....watch the thing over and over and over......so maybe it won't hurt the ratings as much as I assume.

While watching it in June.....I would like to say...."Hey...I post on a board with that guy who won. Well, no....I don't KNOW him......no...I'm not good enough to play in his games....BUT I POST THERE!!!"

I think you're right that ESPN would rather nobody know the outcome until they air it on tv, but I don't think it really matters. WPT, does the same thing and they wait months to air tournaments. If the NBA playoffs were not shown live, instead a month later, I don't think anybody would watch if they already knew the outcome. I don't think that is the case for the WSOP. In basketball, the games are pretty much the same there is not anything that really distinguishes it from the previous game. But every poker tournament is completely different from the previous one. Just because I will know that on Friday Fossilman /images/graemlins/wink.gif won the WSOP, doesn't make me want to watch it any less. How did he win, what happend? I think that makes poker different.

Seriously, what you were told is the truth. 99.9% of what he says is gold. A large majority of his posts are to other posters' threads, so he doesn't normally initiate. He sincerely and correctly answers questions and gives advice to the questions of others. You won't get that much out of threads that he initiates. They mostly walk you through a couple hands from a tournament he placed high in.

If Greg manages to make it to the final table I wonder how they will spin his online qualifier. Will he be another poker nobody who managed to make it to the WSOP via a cheap internet victory or will the truth come out and will Greg be recognized as an experienced and accomplished tournament player who would have played anyway internet or not -- I'm sure Pokerstars will spin it this way (Fossilman made lots of money, you can too!) With so many sattellites available on the internet it only makes sense for all players -- pros and novices -- to try qualifying prior to heading to Vegas.

Anyway, back to rooting for Greg to see how this all plays out.

I know John, and out of all our friends he is the best NLHE player, although he gets killed in the home games! LOL!
This is just the beginning of a legacy btw! Watch out for the young guns!

Greg has shared some of his success with me...

My account at PS was just credited $25 because Greg outlasted Harrington!

Go Greg!

He's gonna win it all folks!

You best be joking...Newman from Seinfield in Jurrasic Park

He looks like the guy who was supposed to steal the DNA in Spielberg's film about the prehistoric parc (can't remember the title) He was also Cosmo's postman friend in Seinfeld (can't remember that name either) /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wayne Knight was in that movie... hell, he almost played Newman.

We were at the same table at the start of day 1. He plays fast and loose, but changes it up enough to keep you on your toes.
Didn't tangle with him too much, but he beat the hell out of the other loose players at the table.
Hung out with him on the breaks a bit and he is a great guy.
(I busted out around 760th after 1st break on Monday)

Can you believe John Murphy was an hour late to the tables yesterday, causing him to lose ~T$160,000 in blinds?!

Apparently the story is that the Bellagio, where he was staying, forgot to give him his wake-up call! Damn, I'd sue them! Of course I would've had two or three alarm clocks set in the first place, one of them battery operated, what with the Bellagio's unreliable power supply and all ;-)

Well, at least we know who's playing Greg when they make a movie about his rise to World Poker championship.
