Given the stack sizes, I like Greg's chances at this table A WHOLE LOT!

He knows how to move chips very well under these circumstances............

Let's hope the poker gods smile upon him. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I had to pick the 2+2 guy who seemed the most deserving of a huge score at the WSOP, I would have chosen Mr. Fossilman. I think this would be great for poker, and especially satisfying to those folks who have constantly said that with 2600 players, it was just a pure crapshoot.

Because let's face it, if Greg wins, we all know he will have earned it.

Go Greg!!

Does anyone know if Greg or Tyler (or other 2+2er) have any financial backers for this tournament?

I doubt either of them have backing. They both won their seats in satellites.

You are probably right, but they could have sold a share to cover expenses or lock in a small personal profit.

due to a previous arrangement that ends after this WSOP.

I'd be rooting for Fossilman anyway, as he's a great poster who has helped my game, but it's especially easy to cheer for him given how he got into the WSOP.

Check out the thread called "Go Sweat Fossilman" in the MTT forum and look at the deal his opponent rejected before getting waxed heads-up...

My understanding is that these are players who qualified from a satellite on Stars. So, why would he need a backer?

Could you post a link to this thread possibly? My search function doesn't work right. If not, thanks anyway and what kind of deal did he offer, and what were the chipcounts?

Greg offered shares of himself around a year ago. I'm not sure how many takers he got, but there was a lot of discussions about the terms he was offering. I'm not sure if it ever happened, but if it did it might still be in effect for this WSOP.

I should quit being lazy and just go down there and check out the live action...
I am still fairly new to this community, but I appreciate everything its done for me, and I feel like a jackass sitting here in my Vegas apartment reading online updates when I could be down there cheering 2+2 on in person.

Maybe Ill learn something... Anyone can tell ya, I have a lot to learn.

I posted this info the other day in another thread. Greg is still backed. There have been a series of arrangements in place for over the last year and a half or so. The current one runs through the end of Greg's 2004 WSOP. So there are quite a few rgp/2+2 members that are really rooting for Greg. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just in...4:27 pm

Chris Ferguson re-raises to 80k. Greg Raymer moves in for 360k. Ferguson calls all-in for 300k w/ KK. Raymer shows AA. Flop KK2 and Raymer is down to 60k

Damn.......

ignore that. Another person on gregs backers list got duped... /images/graemlins/frown.gif Sorry if I caused a heart attack.

I received an e-mail that from Gregs backer list. It appears that someone duped on on-site pokerstars person who then told the backer. So now I am all nervous and want to see a credible update with his chipcount.

What thread do you find that in B_Dids? I cannot find the chipcount listings on their site. I have just been watching rgp and here and pokervoice.

That is great. I wonder how Tyler Durden is doing, hopefully up from 55k.

As much as I'm rooting for Greg, it's pretty exciting to see Doyle up there. I really hope he makes the final table, that would be outstanding for poker.

I don't think Brunson making the final table would provide any significant benfits to the poker world. People who have been around poker for a long time may like to see him make one more run at a world championship. But, the common player will find little excitement in an (and I do say this with respect) old"er", "slightly" overweight, curmudgeon-looking poker player from "the good old days" winning.

It would be outstanding for poker if the winner were a charasmatic peron and exiting player whether he is currently well known or not.

I disagree. Whether he wins or loses, Doyle at the final table would be a big thing for ratings. People love star power in this country. As an example, imagine if Moneymaker had defeated Doyle instead of Farha last year. The impact may have even been greater.

I would love to see a Party qualifier win the thing. Without the WPT advertising to bring in the constant flow of fish the tables are getting too populated with people who actually know what they are doing.

I agree with Clark here,I think moneymaker winning last year set the pace for what happened this year and even though Id rather see someone else win it Doyle winning would be Big news and next year who knows it will be like..........ps is he having short naps at the table?

I sold 1% of myself to a friend, just for the hell of it. So he makes a cool $150 from this (no, I didn't tip, and was not asked to).
