I have been having good success at the limit 10+1 sng party tournaments but I seem to have a flaw in my game somewhere. I guess I'll use my numbers to illustrate.
played: 107
placed itm: 50
1st: 10
2nd: 17
3rd: 23
I can think of two reasons why I am finishing in third so often. (remember this is limit)
1. I play very tight, especially in the middle stages (50/10 to 100/200). This means I dont limp with a lot of drawing hands especially in ep. However, I get very aggro with big cards like 1010 to AA, AK, AQ. So, often times this leaves me with a modest stack towards the end and I find myself just barely getting to 3rd with a wounded stack.
2. I need help playing shorthanded. It seems, even when I am have a decent amount of chips I have trouble getting that elusive 1st place. This reason bothers me the most. I have been playing very aggressive, especially heads up. I always enter with a raise and will raise a limper. I do this with most pp, Ax, Kx and sometimes steal with others. If 3-bet I usually get away from my hand unless its quality. This seems like a good way to play but maybe I am missing something.
I know that I have not given an extensive indication of my play but if anyone can take a stab at suggesting why I seem to be a 3rd magnet I would be very appreciative. I would give more analysis if I could tell what the problem is.
