I played in a SnG for the first time in a while last night on party.

First hand

QKo in Mid Postion and I raise to 85. Both blinds call.

Flop---Q K 3 rainbow
check/ check/ I Bet 100/ both call

Turn---8 i think? (completes rainbow)
check/ I bet 250/ call

River A
he moves all-in(about 350)/ I call

Comments? I play more limit than NL so were my bets appropriate amounts?

thank you

I would have moved in on the turn to help avoid getting rivered by a straight, which I'm guessing is what happened here. You had to call the river bet IMO.

You played this alright, 2 comments.

1) I'd bet more on the flop. Yes you hit top 2, but to me your small bet on the flop screams strength. You raised preflop, you are expected to bet. I'd bet 175-200. Definately not less than half the pot, which is what you bet.

2) At this point, I'd want to make another pot sized bet. You have to figure your opponents are drawing. Because you can't make a pot sized bet and then fold under any circumstances, you must push. This is not the time to value bet. You are likely leading the hand, and there are a lot of chips in the pot already. Take it down, or force your opponent to make a bad call and draw out on you.

(which I'm guessing is what happened... Unless your opponent played the worst bottom set I've ever seen)
