what are the differences in win rates in a 50bb capped game and a 100bb capped game.

if someone makes 10bb/hour in a $100 1/2 game then switches to a $100 .5/1 game are they going to have their win rate cut in half but still have the need to maintain the same bankroll? it seems like your win rate in relation to the blinds should go up at the bigger buyin game.

There are subtle but important differences among the 50bb and 100bb capped game.

1) In 50bb, assuming minimum stacks, if you raise the pot preflop, get a few callers and hammer again on the flop, you have got most of your stack in and am quite committed to the pot. As stacks in the 100bb are deeper, there is much wider scope for tricky turn/river play and outplaying and outmanoeuvring the opposition becomes important.

2) Implied odds for calling marginal hands, say small pocket pairs and suited connectors become much higher. Some players even advocate seeing small pairs all the way to the turn if you can get in **not too expensively** as there are huge payoffs.

It's for these reasons seasoned NL players prefer starting off with a hugest stack possible.

As for your question on the bankroll, I'm fairly sure a smaller bankroll will be ok in a .5/1 game.
