I dunno - but it looks like an excellent way for them to collect e-mail addresses for spamming/selling.
Maybe it is legit - but I wouldn't use it.

I think they are on the up and up... just saw a segment on them on CNN. I think it would be a great tool for job seekers.

I haven't tried it, but I imagine they'd have access to the full text of every e-mail that goes through their system.
I thought about embedding a small one pixel image in an e-mail when i needed to do this. It has to be hosted on a web server where I'd have access to the logs. Then I can just look up the date and time it was first accessed. If the "image" is really a script, you could have that script log the IP address, date/time, and a unique ID passed as part of the URL. I'm guessing this is what they do.
Most people would never notice this, but would be very obvious to anyone using a text-only e-mail client.
It should be called, "DidTheyOpenIt.com." No way to tell if they read it.
