I usually use rubs instead of marinades on steaks.

score the skin of the steak with the tip of a knife before marinating for better saturation.
i like to use worcestshire sauce, minced onion, a dash of garlic salt, black and red pepper, and maybe even a little A1 (if you like A1).

A few ounces of worchestershire (sp?) sauce, depending on the size and your taste.
some A-1, again, to your taste
Some balsamic wine vinegar, about a capful, not a lot
some finely chopped onion and garlic
a finely chopped pepper of any variety you happen to like
never hurts to toss in a few ounces of beer or wine, preferably a dark beer like guiness
sprinkle steaks before putting into mix with something to the effect of montreal steak seasoning, to taste, and rub it in real good
schmeg of salt, not too much now!
three spritzes of smoke seasoning in the mix
anything else that happens to be in the fridge that you think might go well with it
stir well, add steak, stir or flip or shake the bag occasionally
baste steak with extra marinade when cooking to keep steak real moist and delicious
if the sauce is too think, just water it down a bit, no biggie.
