Why you should fold AA on the button.

I have been thinking about the logic behind not raising pre-flop with TT. In micro-limits there are too many limpers. If the flop comes with overcards, with a bunch of limpers, you know someone has got it and has your pair beat. If the flop doesn't have overcards, or no one has them, it probably has two of one suit, and you know how the fish like to play suited cards. You are going to get beat on the river by a flush. Even if all the cards on the flop are smaller than Ten, it is always possible one of those limpers has two pair, or on a flop like 764, well how often have you seen a limping fish come in with 85? Yep, you are going to get beat by a flopped straight.

So let's review. Don't raise pre-flop, all those limpers will just call anyways. If the flop comes with an over card - you are beat. If the flop comes 2 suited - you can't bet - you might be giving them odds to chase the flush. All small cards? No good, to tightly grouped - possible straight. Nope, with the 6th best hand you can possibly get, all you can do is limp in and check. If anybody bets, you better fold. Hell, they could have a small set.

So let's carry this logic further with the best hand you can get - AA - well, it loses a bunch with 9 callers. In fact, in only wins HEADS UP like 80% of the time. That means it LOSES 20% of the time. Suppose you gave your money to a stock broker and he lost 20% of your money. Would you be happy? Well, even heads up with pocket rockets you are going to lose 20% of the time. And that's the best hand you can have. How many times have you had your AA cracked?

And hey, even if you win, you aren't going to get AA again on the next hand. One of those 9 other limpers is going to have a big card and catch it on the river, and win all that money back you just won with those Aces.

Nope, the only thing to do is immediately fold. Rack your chips before one of those lucky limping fish wins em. Cash them chips as fast as you can. Now, don't put your money in the bank. Too risky. People say "As safe as money in the bank", but it's not safe. Remember the failed Savings and Loan Scandal? Banks fail and close all the time.

No, what you got to do is cash those chips immediately, and buy Series E Savings bonds. You won't have to worry about losing your money for 7 years. NOW THAT IS SMART POKER!

The differences between raising TT and AA are substantial. About the same as the difference between TT and 66. Do you auto raise 66?

I'm not getting into whether or not TT should always be raised in micro play but your post, which attempts to make a mockery of anyone who even suggests that calling with TT in the BB after 6 limpers is acceptable, falls a little flat IMO.

You can get Series E Savings Bonds purchased automatically thru paycheck deduction, so there is no chance you might lose the money in a hole in your pocket before you buy them.
