Party 5/10

4 limp. The SB, a TAG, raises, I 3-bet with Ah Ac, 2 fold, the other 3 call, and TAG caps. At this point I am thinking - "great he has KK"

flop - Js 3c Ks

TAG bets I raise 2 coldcallers, Tag 3-bets

What is my play for the rest of the hand?

I think you are forced to check/call down unless one of the other limpers starts to show significant aggression.

Your TAG opponent could be playing AK much the same way, so I don't think you can lay this down.

I want to show that down, so I check-call the rest of the way. Is it inconceivable to put him on AKs?

I would bet and keep betting until raised. If raised, I would call down. KK is only one possibility. He could have AK QQ or the other two aces (unlikely, but not impossible).

Ok. I agree - He could have AKs, or the other two aces. QQ is not a possiblity, unlesss he is getting waaay out of line. Unlikely - I have a lot of hands in my DB on this player.

Now reviewing the action

Flop Js 3c Ks

after he 3-bet the flop all called.

Turn - Kh

I really hate to fold AA, but I think you have to do it here. He's almost certainly not on the flush draw, if he had AK, he's way ahead now, and if he had KK... yeah. So write this one off.

I would have a lot of trouble laying this one down, but given your read on the guy, AK or KK is much more likely than QQ, AA or any other hand. I would hope I would have the strength of will to fold this one. I fear I would check-call, but that is a problem I sometimes have with big pairs that get beat.

I would call the flop, but I think you're definitely done on the turn.

Add the possibility that one of the coldcallers may have a king and this one hits the muck before anyone can say 'muckiduckduck'.

Well I call him down and of course lost to KK. I know I should have folded the turn. I've gotta work on making these laydowns a little better. I know I have the ability. Since I started playing 5/10 I have been working a lot harder on reading hands and making smart laydowns. Not BIG ones or weak ones but smart ones. I should have folded that one.

Thanks guys

My immediate thought was he could have AK/AA and to call with the intention of raising a turn blank because of the coldcallers. Is this overprotecting a possible 2nd best hand?

I think thats probably a good idea. I'm gonna lose some chips no matter what if he has KK, so it is probably worth risking being 3-bet on the BB street to at least have a decent shot at protecting my hand the times it is ahead.
