In $5k freeroll tourney w/ 1st five places given seats in $100K freeroll in summer. I already won a seat last week and am only interested in the money. 1st is $1350,..., 5th is $500,...,10th is $200 etc. There are nine of us left, a few small stacks (<6k, <5K, <3k). I have about T13k and four have the same +/- T1500, one has about T18k.
Blinds are now 500/1000. I'm pretty much planning on chilling and not getting involved unless I get good cards in position. I'm in LMP and am dealt A3s. I thought I'd try to steal the blinds intending to fold if someone plays back at me. I open for T2000. Folded to SB (I have covered by T4K)who calls, BB calls (has me covered by 1K).
Three to flop (T6K in pot)
Flop: A 8 3 rainbow.
Checked to me, I bet all -in, SB calls, BB folds.
SB flips 88 for set, I am crippled. I go out utg for 8th.
I was planning on giving this up unless I got a great flop. I definitely would not have bet w/ an Ace only flop. Tell me if (where) I went wrong, please.
