Our European friends have raised some concerns about the starting time of the SnG events (8PM EST) in that it will be a bit late and will limit their ability to participate (see here (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=683256&page=1&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1#683256) for the thread). We'd like to accommodate everyone and make it as convenient as possible for the US, Canada, and Europe.

So, would those of you in the USA and Canada be comfortable with a start time of 6PM EST to make it easier for the European contingent to participate? If you're in agreement, is this a more convenient time for those of you in Europe?

Let's have a vote on this so we can complete the tournament setup. We'll check this later in the day and majority vote rules (as we need to get this setup today in order to be ready on Monday).

If the start time moves to 6PM EST, then we'll still keep the table open until 12 midnight EST to get the maximum window of play.

Time Zones are such a bother aren't they? The problem with the 6pm EDT start for these is that you are eliminating anyone who lives west of Ohio that might have a job. Particularly our west coast friends who would have to play at 3pm. Right in the middle of the work day. It's tough to schedule a time that will appease everyone. GL with this. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

the tables will be open for rolling games - if the first player sits at 6pm but the last player doesn't sit until 9.45pm, the game starts at 9.45pm

when that game finishes, say at 11pm, there is an hour left for a new ten players to sit and go

the only reason to have a start and finish time for the table being open is to try to get it into people's heads that they "have to" turn up during that window to get a game

Mike makes a very valid point here. Remember, it'll be open until 12PM EST in any case so as long as there are enough people within that window period that sit down to play, somewhere in that 6 hour period there should be a reasonable time zone overlap where everyone can play.

Right, it's settled then. Judging by the votes and the fact that it's rolling, it will start at 6PM EST. If there are any changes, we'll let the Zoo know.

Good luck all!

This is a good idea. Make it easier for all that want to participate. Even the 6 p.m. est time is still late for Europeans. I think it is 10:00 p.m. there in London?

Thank you,

Stage, The tables will run continuously while they are open, so if one game finishes another will start as soon as enough players are seated, this should allow plenty of room for everyone to play. Thank you, Jon
