PA Daily:
Murderer of Father and 2 Daughters, Samir Quntar:
"A Beacon of Light for the Generations to Come!"
by Itamar Marcus, May 9, 2004

A week after the horrific murder of an Israeli mother and her four daughters the Palestinian official daily has glorified murderer who was responsible for similar murder of a father and his 2 daughters, labeling him "a beacon of light for generations to come."

According to the daily "Al-Hayat Al-Jadida" Samir Quntar, murderer of Dani Haran and his two daughters in Nahariya in 1979, is a Palestinian hero and "authentic role model".

The following appeared in the PA daily on in an article dedicated to the "suffering" of Quntar in and Israeli prison:

"Samir Quntar, a name of pride in the history of the prisoners of the [Palestinian] national movement. A name that he created, during the resistance in Lebanon and the hours of heroism in Nahariya a name that is written in the blood that dripped in the interrogation dungeons. [Quntar] wrote the noble history of this name in letters of fire and light during the battles of the struggle - [Quntar] was and will continue to be a beacon of light for us and for the generations to come and an authentic role model. Every day that passes Samir's pride grows, and our pride in him grows greater and greater." [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May, 6, 2004]

Now, what did Quntar do that was so heroic? He walked into the town of Nahariya and shot Dani Haran and his daughters in cold blood.

Now, my issues are as follows:

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida is the official Palestinian Authority Newspaper. Now, the official media outlet of the Palestinian Authority, an entity with diplomatic relations with 138 nations around the world, endorses the cold-blooded murder of parents and their children. That is the same Palestinian Authority which receives direct aid from all of the western democracies, including the USA to the tune of more than 10 billion dollars in its ten years of existence. The United States taxpayer used to fund Palestinian Television also - until word got out about children's shows teaching small children to become martyrs.

Israel actually gave the PA the funding to publish this newspaper, and as the most influential newspaper in PA-occupied territory, could have used the opportunity to promote messages of peace.

Not one U.S. news outlet reported that the PA praised, justified and glorified the cold-blooded murder of a pregnant woman and her four children.

There are terrorists and people who praise them in Palestine? Wow, thanks for the info I wasn't aware of that.

Now that you have brought this to my attention I think Israel definately should be able to do whatever it wants.

This is disgusting and outrageous. Unfortunately, it is not surprising, coming from the duplicitous Arafat and his cronies.

More important, the UN is endorsing a state with these guys as the government.

No, it's endorsing a state. You know, like everyone else has? Who ends up in charge isn't up to the UN.
