Here's some hands I played from a recent $1 Stars tournament. 833 enter, 81 pay. Sorry about how low stakes it is, but I figure it's better than a freeroll when asking for hand help. Also, I took out the players who folded preflop to make the post shorter, with my thoughts below in blue. Anyway, here goes:

Hand 1: Big Blind is t20 (8 handed)

Hero (t1570)
MP2 (t860)
CO (t1400)
Button (t1610)
BB (t1450)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls t20, MP2 calls t20, CO calls t20, Button calls t20, BB checks.

Flop: (t110) T/images/graemlins/club.gif, 3/images/graemlins/spade.gif, Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (4 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO checks, Button checks.

Turn: (t110) 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (4 players)
BB checks, Hero ...

Ok, so no one bet the flop, and I picked up the nut flush draw. Safe to bet, or still plan to check/fold?

Hand 2: Big Blind is t30 (9 handed)

Button (t2275)
SB (t1405)
Hero (t1465)
UTG (t935)
UTG+1 (t980)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K/images/graemlins/club.gif, A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
UTG calls t30, UTG+1 calls t30, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button calls t30, SB raises to t150, Hero raises to t300, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t270, Button folds, SB calls t150.

Flop: (t960) T/images/graemlins/heart.gif, Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 2/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t200, UTG+1 raises to t680, SB folds, Hero folds.

What did I do wrong here, if anything? I think I underbet the pot if I were to get him to fold.

Hand 3: Big Blind is t50

Hero (895)
SB (480)
BB (2000)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/heart.gif.

Folded to me, I raise to t200, SB folds, BB reraises all in, I fold.

That'll teach me to try and steal from a big stack.

Hand 4: Big Blind is t100 (9 handed)

UTG+1 (t2490)
MP1 (t6490)
MP2 (t2290)
MP3 (t3185)
Hero (t620)
SB (t1900)
BB (t2725)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif, T/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t100, MP1 calls t100, MP2 calls t100, MP3 calls t100, CO folds, Hero raises to t620 (all in)

I figure with all the limpers, I may as well test my luck here. Should I have waited for a better hand?

Hand 5: Big Blind is t150 (9 handed)

UTG+1 (t2062)
MP3 (t4654)
Hero (t4155)
SB (t3109)

UTG calls t150, UTG+1 calls t150, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls t150, CO folds, Hero calls t150, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t900) Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 3/images/graemlins/club.gif (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks.

Turn: (t900) J/images/graemlins/club.gif (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, MP3 checks, Hero bets t500, SB folds, BB folds, UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP3 folds.

With all the limpers (the big stack just sat down), I decided just to come along for the ride this hand again. Too passive?

Hand 6: Big Blind is t200 (9 handed)

Hero (t5062)
BB (t2759)
UTG (t10290)

UTG raises to t600, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button folds, Hero folds, BB folds.

I didn't want to gamble with UTG, so I took the easy way out.

CO (t1280)
Button (t10682)

Should I let the two short stacks battle it out, or take my 1.5:1 pot odds to see where I end up?

Button (t22074)

No way I can call this. Should I have bet less on the flop?

And finally, my last hand of the tournament. This is for more entertainment purposes than anything.

Big blind is t400, ante 50. I(t6907) pick up A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif in the CO. Folded to me, I push. After using up almost all of his time bank, SB (t22997) calls me with A /images/graemlins/heart.gif Q /images/graemlins/spade.gif. No miracle happens and I'm out in 112th. I guess I paid him back for when I doubled up off him with AK vs his QQ.

I think I did alright for this tournament, probably made a few mistakes in the hands I showed. Thanks for any help.

Sorry about how low stakes it is, but I figure it's better than a freeroll when asking for hand help

10k, $1.00, it's still poker, no sorries.

Hand#1 - I bet the pot for sure.

Hand#2 - Your flop bet it weak. Either check/call a small bet or bet at least 2/3 of the pot if you can get him to fold.

Hand#3 - Looks fine.

Wow, that's a lot of hands, you may get more responses if you break them up some.

Peace,
Joe Tall
