View Full Version : The Super-Genius Invitational Tournament! No limit hold'em!

Hey gang!

Well, the first Super-Genius invitational tournament is going to be no limit hold'em. Currently there are no sites online that allow for multi-game tournaments (that are very anxious to do business anyway). So I have been shopping for a site that I like, that is willing to do us right, and willing to make it no limit hold'em. And That site turns out to be Planet poker. I've played there in the past, and although the software is a bit rough around the edges, they have always treated me right, cashed me out quickly, and they're willing to host my tournament, and do it for 8% total vig. Therefore they got the bid!

The cost will be $30 total, 8% of which goes to the house, so that's $27.60 with a $2.40 vig.

The time and date will be Wednesday May 26th at 6pm eastern . This time/date is subject to change if enough people wish for it to change, but I need to give them at least a reasonable time window to set this up, and I know I can't please everyone. It seems weekdays are better than weekends for turnout, so wednesday it is! I think the 26th does not interfere with other events, thus I chose that date.

I want some actual play in this tournament, not the super-fast BS most sites offer, helping only the fish and the house (to get the fish out of the tournament and into the ring games quicker). So 10,000 starting chips it is, with the following blind structure (no antes):

10,000 starting chips

blinds
50-100
100-200
150-300
200-400
250-500
300-600
400-800
500-1000
600-1200
800-1600
1000-2000
1250-2500
1500-3000
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000
5000-10000
6000-12000
8000-16000
10000-20000
12000-24000
16000-32000
20000-40000
(doubles etc)

The guestlist is to follow. I have invited a lot of people, but I ain't gonna personally message every single one of you!

I will give out the password via IM, email or PM. You can RSVP by PMing me and asking for the password. you can also email me at customcretecreations@yahoo.com, or buzz me at MSN instant messaging at that same address. I won't give it out until close to the tournament, so don't start bugging me yet.

You MUST give your player name (or the one you intend to sign up with) at planet plus your handle on 2+2. The winner will be declared a SUPER-GENIUS by myself, so there is NO anonymity allowed!

Let the Chit talk begin! I'll add some bounties and maybe a booby prize or two later. I think I already have some side bets going, I'll have to check out the old thread...

OK. If you are on this version of the guestlist, all you have to do is contact me and you'll be given the password. If you are not on this list, and would like to play, please contact me! There are too many good people at 2+2 for me to remember them all, so don't be offended if your name isn't here. All entrants are at my discretion of course!

Anyone of Veteran and up status is automatically in if they want.

Anyone who has published a book on poker is automatically in if they want.

Anyone with some redeeming social value is in if they want.

Anyone who has placed in the money at any 2+2 event of any kind is automatically in if they want.

I am not looking to exclude people here, but it is my tournament, thus all entries are subject to my personal whims and discretion. If you don't like it, tough! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

hey, they're a good site. Had to go with the site who would give me as close to what I wanted as possible. I don't want another generic stars structure tournament, BORING. They were willing to change the structure, payouts, everything according to my whim, so I say they deserve to get the tournament.

Any chance demand will be towards bumping it to Friday/Saturday ?

Not only demand, but participation as well then...
Bad idea.

The payouts are of course based solely and totally on my personal whim and Super-Genius (or Super-Magoo, as the case may be!).

payouts
1-10 players - 3 places 50% 30% 20%
11-20 players - 4 places 40% 30% 20% 10%
21-30 player - 5 places 40% 25% 15% 12% 8%
31-40 players - 6 places 35% 25% 15% 11% 9% 5%
41-50 players - 7 places 35% 20% 15% 11% 9% 6% 4%
51-60 players - 8 places 32% 20% 15% 11% 9% 6% 4% 3%
61-99 players - 10 places - 30% 20% 15% 10% 8% 6% 4% 3% 2% 2%
100-199 players - 15 places 25% 15% 12% 10% 8% 5% 5% 5% 3% 3% 3% 2% 2% 1% 1%

Personally, I prefer a broader payout structure, and since it's my tournament, I made them like I like 'em! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh yea, standard "this ain't sponsored by 2+2" disclaimer and all that jazz applies... bla bla bla etc etc.

Given the start time, which is mid-aftertoon here on the Left Coast, I may not be able to play, but I will definitely come sweat the tourney when I get off work and, ahem...perhaps place a drink order or two with the waitress.

Al_Capone_Junior

I could change the time to more like 8 or 9 Eastern time, but then the euros will be bitching. It's not set in stone yet, and ultimately I'll go with whatever will make the most people happy, and get the most people into the tournament.

I'd love to play this tournament, but I haven't been to Planet in years. I just upgraded their site, and I see that they allow player money transfers there.

I have no $$ there, but if anyone does and is willing to swap dollars from another site, please PM me, and I will let you know what sites I currently have money at.

Myrt......

I'll be able to handle some transfers at planet. I aint gonna do it today, but soon enough. This won't be a problem. Transfers there are relatively easy.

"Big Bait Sim" is Big Baitsim. pronounced "beytSEEM".

Baitsim is one word. Plural for "beytSA" (egg).

It's Hebrew slang for everyone's favourite body part(s) shaped like eggs, located between your two "Rag-LAH-yeem".

It means his name is "Big Balls".

I've posted this before.

God must your bastardization of the language continue? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

FWIW I can't wait for this tournament. It should be a "Pitzutz" (An explosion): A great time.

Hi Al

Thanks for the invite and I'm not whinging (I hear ya Doug /images/graemlins/wink.gif) but I doubt I'll be able to play. The start time is 11pm over here and given 10,000 chips and the guest list I'd have my money on it not being the shortest tournie ever played at planet /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Anyway, will definitely look in at the start. I know it's maybe not popular but given such a late start I could really only play at weekend as unfortunately I have to get up next morning and work for my crumbs /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hope it's a roaring success - sounds great craic - never played a tournie with more starting chips than 2500!!

Thanks for the invite, but 2 factors preclude my participation-

1) It starts 2 hours before I get off work
2) It is held on a site on which I do not hold an account

I know my dead money will be sorely missed /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know its your tourney, but i am respectfully requesting a move to around 8 PM EST so that I can attend. 6Pm EST just ain't happening. I work until at least 7pm. (from 7am I might add)

If you can find it in your heart, I would appreciate that you consider moving the tourney to a later time.

O illustrious one.

The only update is that I am changing the time to 8pm eastern. I know everyone has their specific time they want it to be, but this is the best comprimise I can come up with that I think will make the most people happy.

Remember, you must ask me for the password, I am not going to PM everyone. You must provide your planet name and your 2+2 handle, no anonymity.

Hi Al

Regrettably I'm going to have to pass on playing now. The 8pm EST start is going to be too much of a push on a Wednesday night, given the starting chips and blinds. I understand your reasons for moving from the 6pm start but I'm afraid I'll be one of the Euro casualties.

Sorry to miss out.
