It's the later stages of yesterdays 7ish $3 rebuy to the big Sunday tourney on Stars. The blinds are 600/1200. About 90 players from 400+, last 20 get seat. I have ~60k. Big stack (UTG+1) has 93K. UTG (24K) flat calls. UTG+1 raises to 4800. Folded to me on the button with AA. What do you do? No bad beat story here. I push. UTG thinks a long time and folds. Big stack thinks a bit and folds.

I am wondering if my play was too weak. Pushing is certainly not the highest EV play unless my opponents are idiots.

I wouuld make a reraise to about 12,000 and then push on the flop if I'm called, but that's just me.

Since this is a satellite, I think your play was just fine. The key is you won the hand, and picked up a decent sized pot. Perhaps, in a regular tourney, I would suggest playing it slower, either call and all in on flop, or the re-raise to 10k-12k.

AA usually wins small pots or loses big ones. You won an average pot. Count your blessings. Your stack should now be enough to make the $$$. (Of course you don't because of the 22 fiasco later). Too bad.

Hmm, interesting situation. What is the average stack at this point?

I don't recall exactly. I am guessing between 30K and 35K. I also think I was in 2nd or 3rd place at that moment. With the escalating blinds and distance from the bubble, I didn't have a "coasting" stack. I was going to have to gamble some more at some point.
