And no, neither are me or anyone I know, just found it interesting!

from ad #2

World Series Of Poker Sponsership

i would not give a person that can't spell "sponsorship" $15, much less $1,500. why people don't use a spell checker when making Ebay ads is beyond me. the best way to not be taken seriously at Ebay is to have a cheesy ad with errors.

as far as the first ad, this line:

DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM.

makes it a violation of Ebay's terms. i could care less on this one, so i won't report him. however, all Ebay items must be biddable. the reason he is asking for private emails instead of bids is to save the final-value fee. Ebay would be out of business if they allowed people to say "don't bid, just email me"

it defeats the purpose of the marketplace and not to good for shareholders if $25,000 items were allowed for only the cost of the listing fee (which is usually waived for a second auction if there are no winners)

who would pay $25k to a guy that doesn't even give his name? the guy wants the money directly, not even through ebay. sounds like a real honest guy

i sponsored one last year from e-bay (he didn't publish his name either) and came out of it with a healthy 900% return on my money. he is a very well known poker player who is terrible at craps and whose bankroll fluctuates greatly. sometimes he sells a piece of him, sometimes he buys a piece of someone else.

not that i encourage anyone to do this, but it worked out well for me.

cheers!

this guy is selling ad space on his clothing, not a piece of himself, nor looking for a backer. that's all you get for $25,000.

i assume you bought into a players action to be quoting the 900% return. hard to measure the return of a patch on a shirt.

yes. the ad i responded to was for a man seeking "sponsorship" for entry into wsop events. he enters several and sells pieces of him to anyone interested. he advertises on ebay because this is his warped way of "giving back" to the everyday joe. obviously, he could sell his action to other players, which he sometimes does, but he feels that is a case of the rich getting richer. the sponsorship can be for as little as $100.00.

cheers!
