This is the second time this has happened to me in a low level party NLHE tourney. I get AKs in mid position blinds 15/30 one limper I raise to T75 and get 2 callers. The flop comes 10 high rainbow. I bet 100 early position folds and late position calls. Turn is another low card. I check he checks behind me. The river comes a jack. no straight or flush possibility. This is my problem I don't really know what my action should be I checked which seems really weak to me almost like begging for him to bet and take the pot from me. Which is exactly what happened. How should I play when my hand misses like this?

AK is a hand to fold early if it misses, assuming you aren't heads up.. I'd bet the flop if any A or K or 2 hearts showed up. I'd make a decent sized flop bet against a weakling if not. If he folds, great. If he calls, I'm in check/fold mode if the turn doesn't give me a 4 flush or A/K. If the flop misses, and the remaining players are good, I check/fold..

AK is really REALLY good when it hits, and really REALLY bad when it doesn't.
