NL 20£ SNG. 4 players left. Friend is in BB with 54o. He has about T4000. SB T5000. The two other have about 500 each. Blinds are 400-800.
SB completes, he checks. 1600 in the pot.
Flop 237r.
SB check, he checks. good/bad ?
Turn 6, completing the rainbow.
SB bets 500, He goes all in.

I realize you don't want to get in a war you aren't sure you're going to win with the other big stack, but personally, I think I'd have bet the minimum on the flop once checked to me. Some might not want to in case he came back with a significant raise, but to me, there's 1600 chips out there, and a strong chance your opponent has nothing. I wouldn't mind a call or even a min raise back from SB. Pot gets beefed up, which could give SB more incentive to call you if you hit, and your bet may get you free card on turn as well. Your chip advantage over the other two stacks is SO large that I think you can afford this even if you wind up giving up the pot. Once your friend hit, I wouldn't have gone all in, since with rainbow board, it's very very likely that SB is drawing dead. I'd have either called or raised the min back.
