“NORTH AMERICA vs EURO CHALLENGE #1” announcement and signup
Special game for the SNG bunch next Saturday May 8 at 2PM EDT. Open to all 2+2ers.
This will be a $22 password entry NLHE multi table tournament on Poker Stars.

Password will be Colony
Codewarrior is registered with Stars to set up tournaments, so he has set it up, and will be working with me, so watch his posts also.

The usual hype is encouraged: Post your last longer bets and challenges. Any special bets like William’s “bet you can’t beat me” challenge for KotZ6. Somebody ought to be able to come up with a good US v EURO bet.

If we get a good response, this can be an every couple of months challenge!

Here’s the signup for the tournament:

Below this post will be two additional posts. One titled:
NORTH AMERICAN TEAM
And one titled
EUROPEAN TEAM

Pick your team and make a post under your team, Like this:

Under the NA TEAM post, I will make a post that reads:
I’M in. Doc N/M

PLEASE post a N/M (No Message) and you will be counted for your team. Please put the hype on the main thread and not on these two.

Then GET REGISTERED on
Stars, Tournaments, Private,
2+2 North America vs Euro Challenge #1

It is a $22 entry, cash tournament.

Points system for the teams will be announced in a day or two. It will be based on Mike Haven’s weighted scoring system for two unequal teams.

Games for 2+2 posters. Not sponsored by Two Plus Two Publishing.

I'm offering even odds that the top 5 from the EURO leaderboard score more points (as per Mike Haven's official scoring system) than the top 5 from the North America leaderboard, as of today 1st May.

If any of the top 5 don't play, the 6th placed person's score will count, if they don't play the 7th placed person's score will count, ad infinitum. If a player has scored points in both leagues they will play for the team where they have scored the most points. E.g. If Simon plays he'll play for the North American side.

I'm willing to match up to $20.

...more so than I thought. When I went to register, I already was. I have no idea how that happened, only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the cancelled Zoo tourney from this morning, though I did receive my money back from that. Any ideas, anyone?

I'm sure willing to bet, even probably on this, but I am not on any of the boards, so it's more that I'd be betting the top five USA beat the top 5 euro. Other bets might be in order too.

Scoring system for North America vs Euro Challenge #1
(adapted from the weighted two team scoring system by Mike Haven. Thanks Mike.)

NA = pyd/(yd+xe) North American Weighted Final Score
EU = pxe/(yd+xe) European Weighted Final Score

where:
NA = weighted final score of team North America
EU = weighted final score of team Europe
p = total available points
x = number of players in team NA
y = number of players in team EU
d = actual cumulative score of team NA
e = actual cumulative score of team EU
t = total number of players

CHECKS:
NA+EU= p
d + e= p
t = x + y

PLACE POINTS
1st = t points
2nd = t-1 points
3rd = t-2 points
etc

FINAL TABLE BONUS POINTS:
1st 20
2nd 16
3rd 14
4th 12
5th 10
6th 8
7th 6
8th 4
9th 2

TOTAL INDIVIDUAL POINTS (if there are 50 players),
1st = 50 + 20 = 70pts
2nd = 49 + 16 = 65pts
50th = 1pt

Codewarrior will check my spreadsheet before final points are announced.

ONLY PLAYERS WHO HAVE SIGNED UP FOR A TEAM ON 1 TABLE TOURNAMENT FORUM BEFORE THE GAME STARTS WILL HAVE THEIR SCORES COUNTED TOWARD A TEAM SCORE! NO EXCEPTIONS!
That prevents somebody declaring for the winning team after the fact, and me trying to figure out which team the guy from the island republic of lower slobbovia should be on.

For those who don’t want to work out the math, the scoring system rewards bringing a lot of friends, but it much more rewards placing highly.

Teams who have people who signed up on 1TTF and were not able to play will not be penalized. Only players who actually play will be scored.

Doc, your method for joining a team doesn't work, as all responses are to DrPhysic, not to the teams.

Unless I have misanderstood something, you must have somebody else to post and get answers for the Euro team.

If you view it in threaded mode it should be ok, but I agree it would have been easier to have someone else post it.

William, Tyler is right, I am used to looking at the forum in threaded mode.

I made two posts:

North American Team
European Team

If you post a reply to either of those posts, you are registered for that team.

I guess my post is not clear unless you are looking at the board in threaded mode, so here's the explanation:

I put two posts on this thread in 1 Table Tournament Forum.

One is:
NORTH AMERICAN TEAM

The other is:
EUROPEAN TEAM

To register: make a reply (NO MESSAGE REQUIRED) to either one of those posts. That's the team you will be registered on.

If anyone fails to register on 1TTF by game time, he will be welcome to play, but will not be counted as a member of either team. See explanation in scoring post.

OK?

DrPhysic

wayabvpar,

Go ahead and put a post under North American Team. If you cannot play, it will not affect the team scores. Only the players who actually play in the tournament will be scored. This registration is so that we can identify which team you are on if you play.

As per the detailed post under scoring, I do not want to be in the position of figuring out later which team joe schmoe from the island republic of lower slobbovia should be on.

Ok Doc,

You are obviously looking for a last longer bet so here you go:

Me and You

Euro SnG organiser vs. US SnG organiser

$10 to whoever lasts longer

**Doubled** if one of us directly knocks the other out.

---------------

But if we have a little look at where each of us currently stands on the leader board: SnG Rankings (http://www.simongreig.com/sng/rankings.html ) I wouldn't blame you for skulking off to hide in a corner.

I am even beating you on your home ground! (Although we all know that really America really belongs to the Brits so I suppose it is not really "away" turf for me)

Just let me know if you are man enough. If you are not just send me a PM and I wont embarrass you any further in the glaring light of the forum. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok a special bet I have just come up with:

Open to anyone who signs up to this bet before the start of the tournament:

I will give you $6 if you knock me out.
You give me $4 if I knock you out.

No money gets exchanged if we do not knock each other out.

-----

To sign up to this bet just reply to this post stating as much (please put in your stars username as well )
my stars username is "t_perkin 2+2".

Elderberries my ass, that would be an improvement on … Well, I won’t go into tim’s lineage in polite company, just let it be said that there was a sheep and a monkey in the family tree somewhere.

In response to Tim’s challenge, I propose the Team Organizer’s Last Longer. That’s TOLL. You ARE going to pay the TOLL.

Tim and Stoneii, vs

Codewarrior and Doc

If Vinny and AleoMagus would like to make up the third team, they would be welcome.

Pitcher and SimonDiamond can’t play in this one.

The team that has the lowest combined place score wins. $10 per man. If there is a tie, the highest individual score of the tied teams wins. AND if any of the players knocks out another one, even his own team member, the Knockee pays the Knockor an extra $10.

Explanation: if code and I place 1st and 4th, tim and stoneii place 2nd and 3rd, and the other guys finish, code and I get $10 each from each of the losing teams, and then I get another $30 for putting all 3 of you on the rail. (make that $20 and $70 if Aleo and Vinny wish to play)

And you Euro’s best have your mothers play the tournament for you so you won’t lose so much money! (Do you have a little sister that could play for you if mom is busy?)

Doc

Your on.

Although I am tempted to lose just so I can be called a "knockee" /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You have a lot of baggage to carry there code I hope you are up to it.

And after tonights performance...out in the first hand...I think that Physic should be putting in $15 and code paying $5

( he will reply to this with some whinging about how he got beat with rockets against A5s - but really it was all his own fault)

But I won't be playing. I wish I was though considering all the interest this is getting

If anyone wants to take my spot for this challenge it's ok by me. We've got a lot of other total regulars who might be interested.

Sorry again
Brad S

Oh... now that I am on this topic, I don't think i will be playing this thursday either and might not be able to post the leaderboard until after the weekend. I have updated my spreadsheet to include the new atlantic game and will give that to simon, but anyone else who wants it should email me with their email address and I'll send it. It'd be good if a few people had it. I say this mostly becasue I am very near being a naval reservist and it might mean going to sea for a while when that does happen. And THAT would mean I might miss 4-6 tourneys in a row and updates would be difficult.

Good luck this weekend. Now who am I cheering for again?
