Assuming 10 outs--4 to the nuts--a pot offering 7 to 1 and you're closing the flop action, yeah, it's not a great laydown. Really, when you think that the bets double on the turn, assuming you'll get just one caller to showdown gives you more than enough implied odds to peel off a turn card and draw to your gutshot alone.

Yeah, that does suck ass, but it's the kind of mistake you only make once.
