Going to be out in San Fran for about a week during late July. Have never been anywhere West except Vegas. If anyone can give a little insight to any poker rooms in/around San Fran I would greatly appreciate it. Basically looking at low-limit hold'em.

Thanks!

Artichoke Joes in San Bruno and Lucky Chances in Colma. Both are about 20 minutes from SF.

i have never played at Artichoke Joe's but have done well in Lucky Chances. I think they have 3-6 and 6-12 maybe 4-8.

Also The Oaks in Emmeryville. This is across the bay but easily accessable by both bus and BART. They have a shuttle van that will come pick you up at the BART station if you call from there.

Lucky Chances has a scheduled shuttle van between their cardroom and the Colma BART station.

Lucky Chances, in Colma, is probably your best bet,

with the most tables in play, good action, and easy games. They spread 3-6, 6-12, 9-18, and 20-40 hold'em. They also spread 2-4 and 3-6 seven-card stud, and 4-8 Omaha/8 with a half-kill.

Take I-280 south out of SF to Serramonte Boulevard, turn left at the bottom of the onramp, and follow Serramonte until it ends at Hillside. Turn right, and immediate right again into the cardroom parking lot.

Thanks to all who got back to me. Looks like I will be making a few trips to Lucky Chances in late July.

DEFINITELY try the Oaks if you're playing low-limit. Believe me. I played there for years. Very beatable low-limit games, and a generally well-run place.

I guess nobody's ever heard of Bay 101? What the hell?

Also, even though nobody has mentioned it (inexplicably), Casino San Pablo is a great room.

As I recall, and it's been awhile, Artichoke Joe's has got some strange blind structure or something (blind on the button maybe?).

Go then, my son, to the land of, well, brotherly love (oh, wait, that's Philadelphia), and take from the native peoples there the chips of clay which they so value. You will be a better man for it. Now go. No long goodbyes. Just go.

Only go to the Oaks if you like smoker poker. They pay time there, so the games get wild and loose. Looser than Los Angeles, if you can imagine that. But, the time charge is little compared to the rakes they pull down south. If i remember correctly time is $3.00 ever half hour for 2/4; $3.50 for 3/6; $4.00 for 4/8 - never played higher than that.

One more thing: Oaks is not in such a nice area - true you can take BART to near there and then TAXI in; or call ahead and they will send a van for you. However, the van drivers are a joke - and it is very hard to find them to take you to BART or wherever.
