Good game, everybody.

That was a nasty HU for me. He wasn't a bad player, but I managed to make it to about 24000 - 3000 for me. It looked like the end, but then he won 3 critical showdowns (he admitted he's known as "Mr. Draw"), and last hand was my 33 vs. his A8, (he raised 3xBB, I pushed, he called, blinds 600/1200, stacks at ~8000 (me), 18000 (him), and he caught the 8 on the river. Tough 2nd place for me, after a huge lead.

And as for the leaderboard, well, I guess I'm going to lead it now for the whole next century... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi All,

Only small bragging rights for the USA. I got very lucky to win this tourney! First, Stone owns me .....PERIOD. My new nickname show be Mr Draw (or Mr. Outdraw) Helmut also got rivered on the last hand with A8 vs. 33. I called with the A8.....

I did want to post a hand from HU that I thought I did a good job with. On the surface, it looks problematic, but I thought I had a very good chance (might even be a 60/40 favorite...) if I saw all the cards. I figured my opponent for Ax (maybe AK) and was hoping there was no big PP or a Q (yikes) As you will see, Helmet had me in his sights....

So here is the hand....comments welcome/appreciated.

Pitcher!

I salute you for a great game! Didn't know it's you... Well, I was just a little annoyed about losing after such a big lead. Your calls were all reasonable, don't get me wrong. Sorry if it sounded like I disrespect your play. I certainly do not, also when I didn't know it's you.

Now that I know I lost to a fellow 2+2, I definitely feel much much better. You are a hell of a player. A bit lucky, though! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Welcome to the Euro-Leaderboard. Great start!

To be honest I didn't expect any callers - either all folding or a re-raise. I read the opponent for overcards, probably AK, and his weak looking turn bet confirmed this to me (I blame too much time at Party). In reality I got married to a susceptible hand but this is one of those hands where I had a tough choice to make on every street.

It's a little difficult for me to comment about a play when I'm the opponent HU. But I'll pretend I don't know who's your opponent here, and just read what you say about "him".

Your PF call is probably marginal, considering you're calling for ~25% your stack. But it could be OK, depending on your plan post-flop, and on your read.

The 800T bet into a 4000T pot I don't particularly like, unless you're trying to induce a raise with a big hand. Here, with your big draw, you are probably going to call all-in if re-raised (as you did), so pushing is better, IMO.

I believe your all-in call is correct. You are better than 50-50 even against AA, and not worse than 40-60 in worst case scenario, i.e, if your opponent hit a set. But a big re-raise from your opponet probably means he doesn't have a huge hand, so your Ax read should be correct, and with the specific hand "he" had (ATo), you were actually more than 60-40 favorite.

Bringing the 8 to hit on the turn was an excellent move. You made the same trick again when busting "him" with another 8, on the river of the last hand... (33 vs. A8). /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well done! /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Many thanks for the complement. Not sure why you say I own you, but Spike was beating the crap out of me /images/graemlins/smile.gif

On the hand you outdrew me, I didn't think it was that bad. It was a 9 high flop (986 if I recall). I actually meant to reraise you all-in (9A) but hit the button before I finished with the slider (must stop using my feet on the mouse /images/graemlins/smile.gif) but I don't think it makes a difference.

You had 2nd pair (87) and 4 parts to a str8 so there's no way you would lay it down. You had 13 outs which seems almost a 50/50 race.

Good game, my only sadness is PM being in the money AGAIN!!!

Well played (he says through gritted teeth /images/graemlins/grin.gif)

OK, so now the mandatoey moment of bragging:

Since the official series begun, I've participated in every game, and it's 6th time in a row I'm in the money. That's 100%. Avarage finish place: 2.5. Net profit: $204. ROI: 309%.

Hi Stoneii,

You wanna know something funny? I interpreted the re-raise to not all in as some sort of weakness, which is why I called. Very bizarre, but that is what I thought....then you had a hand I really didn't want to see.....

Hi Sheriff,

I can see how you would struggle with this hand. The only thing you might have changed was not calling the turn bet...but what previous information did you have that you were not best? Unless you had a good read on how someone might play (other than mixing it up....slowplaying JJ seems a bit suspect to me) I am afraid I might be in the same boat. Perhaps the cutoff thought you had a premium PP and wanted to see the flop.... but if that were the case, why call the flop and bet the turn? All you can say is that the play was a bit tricky....not how I would have played it.

Thanks Pitcher

The turn bet was a marginal call for me. He pitched the amount just about right at the limit of where I'd consider calling - I'd have folded to anything more, and to any river bet.

In the end I looked at my stack and decided that 800 chips left would still give me a chance to get back so I made the call. Like you said, at that stage I thought there was a good chance I had the best hand.

Incidentally, I didn't bet either the turn or river as I figured I wasn't getting rid of the caller by doing so. Firing out a pot sized bet would have pretty much committed my whole stack, anything smaller would have just been called anyway. I therefore checked the turn ready to fold to a decent bet - unfortunately the T350 bet he made just looked weak enough to drag me in further.
