2 hands, routine until the river.

Hand 1: Villain is an any-2 type. I think I should 3-bet this given the unlikely straight.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 9/images/graemlins/club.gif, 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
Hero raises, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button calls, SB calls, BB folds.

Flop: (7 SB) 4/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 6/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, Button calls, SB calls.

Turn: (5 BB) 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, Button calls, SB calls.

River: (8 BB) 8/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, Button raises, SB folds, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 12 BB

Results in white below:
Hero shows 9c 9s (three of a kind, nines).
Button shows 6s 8s (two pair, eights and sixes).
Outcome: Hero wins 12 BB.

Hand 2: River raiser plays every hand. Button is unremarkable. I think this 3-bet was way overaggressive.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A/images/graemlins/spade.gif, A/images/graemlins/club.gif.
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, Button calls.

Flop: (11 SB) T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif (3 players)
Hero bets, MP1 calls, Button calls.

Turn: (7 BB) 2/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
Hero bets, MP1 calls, Button calls.

River: (10 BB) K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
Hero bets, MP1 raises, Button calls, Hero 3-bets, MP1 folds, Button calls.

Final Pot: 18 BB

Results in white below:
Hero shows As Ac (one pair, aces).
Button shows Ah Ks (one pair, kings).
Outcome: Hero wins 18 BB.

(I didn't look at the results yet)

Hand 1: Do you really think he cold-called your raise with 35 or 57, or called a raise PF and flop bet with T7? I'd easily 3-bet the river.

Hand 2: I don't think this is over-aggressive at all. It's possible that MP1 has something like KT, but you almost certainly have button beat, so I like the 3-bet.

I would say YES in Hand 1. You have the nuts barring 3 very raggedy straights. And if he'd play them straightforward he'd more or less have to have had the gutshot. Plus there's no-one elses money to "keep in".

Hand 2 I say no. You only have the big overpair. Easy to be beat by two pair and you might force the button out and not collect any more from him anyway. Though I still think a reraise is OKish.

Your hand is much stronger, and much better to 3-bet in Hand 1.

Thanks guys. One of the perils of multi-tabling. The 3-bet in hand 1 is a cinch if I'm paying attention.

I think you have it right. 3-bet the first hand, as you'll be shown 2 pair much more frequently than a straight. Call the second hand, as you'll be shown 2 pair much more frequently than top pair.
