When you count outs, do you also make some attempt to count your opponents outs based on your best guess as to what hand he might have?

The reason I bring this up is that I believe I am in the progress of plugging a major leak in my game (not sure yet). It appears that I was overestimating my chances of winning some hands by counting my outs and not giving nearly enough credit to my opponents’ outs and ways of improving his hand even if I improved mine.

I am now tightening up a little on my draws and 2nd pairs etc….

To some degree yes. If I think someone's on a draw, I do what I can to manipulate the odds to give them incorrect draws. Usually, I'm only counting outs when I'm behind (don't need outs if I'm ahead) so I'm usually loking at outs for me or for them.

It is good to recognize which of your apparent outs may actually hurt you more than help you.
