View Full Version : As Smooth as Silk

I was a very good boy yesterday, when my wife left for the gym at 6.30 am, I put a load of wash into the machine, when she returned a couple of hours later, with my morning cappuccino, I had almost finished the all of the washing. After a shower, I took her furniture shopping and then escorted around the swap meet, never once complaining. I was fortunate enough to see the Dodgers win the final game in a three game rubber against the Giants, can you believe it, the Dodgers sweep the Giants in San Francisco. By the way did you see in the Sunday papers that McCourt has purchased a $25 million home in, I think, Homby Hills? Well the day continued to improve, and around 3 pm I even get to take a nap, I am, however woken up at 5 pm by my wife, you see she's going for blood work on Monday and can't eat after 7 and well she's hungry and wants to eat now, so I take her to dinner. After dinner I decide to end this near perfect day by a visit to the Bike.

I wander into the Bike and get seated in a very bad 6/12 game, the game only has 8 players and one of them always seems to be away from the table, and there is no action at all, we go almost two complete rounds in which every hand is chopped between the blinds.

One of the regular players is whinning for a set up when this hand comes up, I'm under the gun and receive both red 10's. I'm in seat 1 and I limp in, it's folded to the Asian gentleman in seat 4 who raises, everyone folds to me and I call the raise.

The flop is 10 A 2 (suits are unimportant).

I bet, he raises, I reraise, he reraises, now I could have reraised (heads up there is no limit to the number of raises), but something told me to back off.

The turn is a Q - Board 10 A 2 Q

I check. he bets, I call.

The river brings the final black 10.

Without hesitation, I bet, he calls and says, "I know you have pocket 10's and we have a jackpot!" and shows his red and black aces, I show my 10's and the celebration begins.

The jackpot was $35,000, split up this way 50% to the losing hand, 25% for the winning hand (me) and the remaining 25% is split between the players at the table (only 5 of them). It was a nice feeling seeing the table so happy and of course we were all congratulated by players and staff alike. Once it had all settled down, I thought back on how easy it was, just a regular hand being played, the same way that I have played thousands of them but this one was special. I asked the floorman for the deck and he was kind enough to let me have it, I could only receive it when I was leaving. It did take about an hour for me to get paid off, at which time I wished the table good luck and good night and left.

Oh yeah, the drive home, was just like the hand - as smooth as silk.

this is a wonderful coincidence. I've been working on a method of turning $8500 into $85,000. meet me at the table under the dragon in the back room.

Congratulations on the win! I only wish I had been there to share in it /images/graemlins/grin.gif

At least now I won't have to hear everyone in the 8-16 game talk about how long it has been since anyone hit the jackpot.

By the way, if you're wondering who I am, I sat on your left a couple weeks ago (2 or 3, I can't remember for sure) for an all-night Saturday/Sunday session, and we talked a decent amount during those 12 or so hours.

I hope that's the table "outside" of the Dragon Room, $8750 (thank you Andy) doesn't even get you in that place!

Now, tying this in with a post from maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago . . .

How much did you tip? Was it appreciated or were you looked upon as a cheapskate?

Just wondering . . . .

p.s. How much harder did the dealer work during that hand as compared to all the other hands he (or anyone else) dealt you?

Good save.
