Opponent here is what I'd describe as loose-goofy. I try not to read too much into these sort of things, but both the flop and the turn were insti-calls.

Did you plan on check-raising the river? I would have, suspecting AQ or AJ. Though I would have bet the river anyway because there a billion raising hands he will call with here.

I'd like it a lot more if you hadn't described him as loose-goofy.

No, I planned on checking and calling the river.

On second thought, a bet is almost a must because he is unlikely to bet the river without the clubs or the straight, unless he is really tricky and awesome.

I thought the presence of that particular card makes him less likely to call the river without improvement and more likely to bet the river as a bluff if checked to.

Frankly, the vast majority of times you see someone say in a hand analysis "check to induce a bluff" what it really means is "its unlikely you can beat anything other than a bluff so pay off rather than face the prospect of a river raise". You can beat a helluva lot more hands than a bluff.

I bet because that is also a great card for them to bluff raise with. I'm comfortable paying off a raise against most opponents on this board.
