Good deals? Going with the wife who wants something nice. Can't afford Bellagio /images/graemlins/frown.gif.
I'd take the Luxor over the others. $89 isn't bad at all.

I've only stayed at the Luxor, but we thought it was very nice.

Harrah's is right across the street from the Mirage.
The Tropicana is actually in a good location for a low-limit poker player. It's in easy walking distance of Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, and Monte Carlo. It's a about a 12 minute walk from the Bellagio.
If you plan on playing alot of poker, I believe you can get into the Mirage for $79/night by booking through the poker room. I think the rate requires something like 6hrs. play/day/room. Just another option.

I've stayed at Harrah's and Luxor. Harrah's has a good location just across from the Mirage. The room was fine. The room at Luxor was a bit nicer. I stayed in the pyramid -- the slanted elevator was kind of cool but the rooms were a bit cramped (also no bathtub if that matters). Apparently the "tower" at Luxor has better rooms than the pyramid. The pyramid's definitely cooler though.
If you are planning to play a lot of poker I agree with Mano; take the poker rate at the Mirage. The main disadvantage to that is you might not have enough time to check out various other poker rooms in town.

How do you go about booking a room through the poker room?
(Sorry for the stupid question...)

Call the poker room during business hours and say that you want to reserve a room at the poker rate. They should explain how many hours of play is expected, and take down your info and give you a confirmation number.

My first trip to Vegas, so I want to leave open my options as to where to play and how much to play. I will be spending at least 8 hours a day playing poker, though...
