I realize variants of this question have probably been asked but I couldnt find it in the archives:

How many hands do you need to determine if you are a winning player? People on 2+2 throw around a lot of numbers like 10,000 or 20,000 or 50,000 without any backup. I have just started playing 0.50/1.00 NL and was curious how many hands are necessary to measure my play.

(I took a lot of statistics and econometrics during grad school 8 years ago and have forgotten much of it.)

Is it just a matter of building a 95% confidence interval around your hourly rate and not worry about the number of hands?

Thanks in advance.
