View Full Version : Progressing up through the limits on Party

Anyone have any suggestions on when one should decide to move up to the next higher limits at Party? What should be the minimum number of hands played at a limit at a certain success rate (e.g. minimum 2BB/100 hands) in order to confidently try the next higher limit?

For example, I'm averaging a little better than 2 BB/100 hands through 30,000 hands at 3/6 and was wondering when I should move to 5/10.

Also, for those who have responded to my other hourly rate & multiple table posts, thank you very much for your input. It's greatly appreciated.

There's been a TON of posts regarding this, with a TON of info (As I've read through it as I plan my progression). Try searching, and you'll probably find better info than what someone will want to retype here. =)

I say move up when the bankroll can handle it and you feel comfortable playing there.

When you play at 3/6, then I assume you started with 300 BB.
Move up to 5/10 (or just take a shot at 5/10) when you've won at least 200BB at 3/6, so you now have 300 BB for 5/10.

I would recommend this principle also for all other limits.

beach,

i believe all limits on party poker are fishy. so as long as you have good foundation on basic knowledge and some solid skills, with patience and discipline, you should be able to beat most of them, provided you have a big enough bankroll (300-400BB).

the key is that you must be ready to drop back down if you realize you are having a hard time at least break even. this will most likely happen if you are just barely good enough to beat the current level.

the BIGGEST gap between limits on Party Poker is the gap between 3-6 and 5-10. becasue 3-6 are full ring games only, however 5-10 is 6max heavy. the aggression, the skill level, the skillset required, the swings, the bankroll requirement, the expectation all differ the hugest between these two limits. So, be prepared but don't be scared. they are all fishes anyways, just don't be one yourself.

My recommendation is to attack the 5-10 full games if possible, and switch to 6max gradually if you are interested. oh yea, 6max or 5max is the most fun type of limit poker /images/graemlins/grin.gif

best of luck,

Kenny

Hey Chief, regarding your reply, you got a couple html links of some of your favorite/best threads regarding this subject?

Seems to be a big gap between 2/4 and 3/6.

2/4 is 39% and PT has 3/6 at 30%.

Anybody else confirm these numbers??

My stats show:

$1-2 at 38%
$2-4 at 36%
$3-6 at 33%
$5-10 at 28%

Is there a book on how to adjust to 6 / 5 max tables especially relating to starting standards?

Or would you just play as in a full ring game with seat 6 late position, 5 middle, 3,4 early and 1,2 BB and SB?

Party 3/6: ASF = 34.5%, Avg Pot $49.98 (33,086 hands)
Party 5/10: ASF = 29.8% Avg Pot $58.54 (14,309 hands)

The 3/6 games are great, but you have to be willing and able to play very aggressively.

The 5/10 games are occasionaly rock gardens.

beach,

Here's the one that I liked for talking about when to move up. Although you've gotten a ton of good advice here.
