Apparently the world tour consisted of the pay for seminar and Moneymaker being propped by the Casino to come around to each table for 15 minutes or so and jack the pot with the Casino money.

I got there around 7, put my name on the lists for 6-12 and 10-20. Of course one of the 9 3-6 games had an open seat so I snagged that. I didn't even realize he was there until I went to the cage to get my chips. I sit down 3-6 and the thought that Moneymaker may actually come and sit down at our table was making the people at the table wetting themselves. It was non-stop talk about how they were going to take him down....yadda yadda.... Moneymaker this Moneymaker that, one guy at the table was muttering something in broken Enlgish that I think was "he was just lucky"....At this point I am getting tired of Moneymaker the rock star all I want to do is sit down 10-20 and take home a couple of hundred.

As luck would have it our table was selected for Moneymaker to sit down at. Generally I'm pretty cynical and I couldn't help from thinking the way these people are acting is just a little pathetic.

Moneymaker sits down and is about as accommodating as I have ever seen anyone. I mean he was so nice to all the people at the table and to people that came up to him it was unreal. I mean nobody has to be that nice. He signed everything. Obviously the people playing 3-6 for the most part are newer players and Moneymaker was just about as cool as you could be. I couldn't hear him too well because he's a little soft spoken and Harrahs is about as loud of a card room as you will ever be in. Funny hand some old lady who plays there a lot flopped quads on him and C/Rd him on the river, (like he cared about the Casino's money I think he had like bottom pair or something betting the entire way), he laughed made some good natured comment like 'uh oh...I believe you', and the lady said, good naturedly as well, 'when you're playing all those big games you remember that some old lady in New Orleans took you down'. We all laughed and MM said, 'has anyone not beat me in a hand', which I responded.....'I haven't'......he laughed and said...'you have to play to win'....

I never had a hand worth playing in the 7 or 8 hands that I was at the table with him,(got called for my 10-20 in the middle of it all), but I had to admit he is not a bad face to put on poker right now. Make no mistake about it this guy is a full on celebrity. People who clearly have never sat down at a poker table were walking up to him and having them sign everything from post it notes to Harrahs flyers. There must have been no fewer than a dozen people walk up to him in the span of 15 minutes. Some of them very attractive woman.....(grrrrrrrrr ...nice to see this poker thing catching on with the honeys).....There was a guy at the table that put together all his 1's and 5's to make a 100, got a benji and had him sign it.

After going to the tables they held a 1 table sng free roll with MM. I was too late to get selected and I doubt I would have anyway. It appeared that the guys who were in it were the guys that play a lot of NL /PL. He busted out 3rd. Then he went and played in the live NL game. They put that game in the absolute worst spot. I mentioned how it's the loudest cardroom on the planet well they play that NL game on the very edge where every gauker/rail bird can sit there and watch you play. It is by far the loudest part of the poker room. Well MM sat down and by all accounts took the people at the table for 3 times his buy in. I didn't watch him play but for maybe 3 minutes when I passed as I was leaving. I did look over there on occasion and see rail birds leaning over and getting his autograph. I mean dude is sitting there with a few grand at risk and he's still being as nice as ever. I know poker has us all jaded about money but I don't care if I'm playing 2-4 online,3-6, or 10-20 I want to win. When he was playing NL he wasn't being given chips by the casino like he was before.

I have to admit I'm a fan of the guy just because of the way he acted. He is a great face for poker right now to help with it's popularity. It's a perfect story and unlike a guy like say Varkoni MM has actually validated his win with another high finish. Dude can play.

I must admit, I've gained alot of respect for him after reading this post. Seems like he is definitely a class act.

Not to be the ignorant one or anything, but what was his other high finish?

From all stories I've heard, MM's a very nice guy, and plays good poker, but I hadn't heard about another top finish.

thanks

He finished second at the championship event of the Shooting Star tourney at Bay 101. Phil Gordon was the winner and I heard Chris Moneymaker had the best of it when the chips went in on the final hand.
