View Full Version : Anyone have an online/at home job that they do while they play poker?

I've found that I'm at my poker playing best when limiting myself to 2 tables at a time. I simply get worn out trying to do 4 at once and my play suffers.

However, I will often do other stuff like write papers for school, watch tv, read these forums as I am playing in those 2 games. That leads me to my question: Does anyone play similar to me only doing a job as they play poker? I would think that a job like proof-reading essays or stuff like that could be easily done while playing poker.

The reason I ask is because I am interested in playing full time for a while(just to see how well I do), but everyone keeps telling me that it'd be much smarter to have an unchanging sort of income to fall back upon.

I work as an air traffic controller while playing 3 tables of poker. Just turn up the volume of the console, and I usually get alerted whenever there's a plane that really needs attention.

Hehehe j/k. I'd think playing poker while working would be detrimental to your work, much less detrimental to your poker playing. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like to clear blackjack bonus. Starluckcasino has a nice java based game you can play and still watch your poker games.

I'd suggest that his probably a really bad idea. If you're working, do your work. If you're playing poker play poker and so whatever else you want.

How good of a job proof reading do you really think you're gonna do when you have one eye glued to the table waiting for your turn?

ANd I don't care how ABC you make your poker, focusing on something else can't be good for your poker game.

Scouting stocks is almost a job. Heard of someone doing this while playing poker.

I always get headaches while playing Holdem and BJ at the same time. I suspect it is due to the different ratings of starting hands. 74o is great in BJ, but terrible in Holdem. 66 is terrible in BJ, but playable in Holdem.

I'm a heart surgeon and have noticed a correlation between the number of tables I play during work and my malpractice litigation costs.

The correct play is to checkraise (counter-sue) in this spot. Then protect your hand with arguments like "[censored] happens", etc. On the end you value bet with name calling vs your opposition. In the long run you should come out way ahead.

I am also a doctor and a business owner with 4 corportions. But I luv poker. My only option is to play ans work at the same time. I usually play a SnG torney while working. I NEVER have time to do poker only. Results are not great, about break even.

Yes, I am a neurosurgeon and I enjoy playing poker while operating. I know my poker play and my surgical precision both suffer, but who cares?

Just kidding.

Night Watchman or similar "warm body" job would work well.
