Thursday 4/8

Left Freeport, NY at around 10PM. Very smooth drive all the way. Pulled into the lot around 1:30AM. Got lost in the lot the first time through, and had to exit and re-enter. Found the self park garage the 2nd time around, got checked and settled into my room, and headed down to check out the poker room around 2:30AM. I considered playing at that time, since there were no lists, but decided it would be a stupid thing to try playing at that hour. Got to sleep around 4AM.

Friday 4/9

Slept late and then had lunch, and put my name on the 4-10 HE list around 1:30PM, 10 names or so deep. Got seated in what felt like an hour but was probably more like a half hour. Played maybe 7 hrs, with some very loose players, went up $260.

Had a nice dinner at Al Dente's with some chess player friends, and went back to the 4-8 around midnight. With a combination or crap cards, bad beats, tougher opponents, and playing too tired, dropped $220 in 5 hours.

Saturday 4/10

Did the usual sleep till noon, had lunch, and decided to try some 5-10 Kill. Saw there was no list, so I bought in and got seated right away. One player was reading a copy of HEFAP at the table. It was a fun group, everyone was laughing at all of the guy's plays, saying the book told him to do that, etc.

Played about 7 hours, cutting into my third stack of reds a few times before I hit a good streak and got back close to even. Blinded and limped off a bit more until I was down about $100 again, and decided to quit before the next BB. Started racking my chips and woke up with AKs UTG in a kill pot. Raised and got several callers, and the flop comes AKx. Bet and got called to the river and MHIG. Posted the kill blind, folded a crap hand to a raise, and left the table.

After dinner decided to try some 10-20 since I had seen enough kill hands to figure I could just go for it. This was a short handed table since they kept picking players up from it to keep the other two 10-20 games full. I set myself a limit of about 2 hours, and bought in for a rack of reds.

Went deep into the 2nd stack for a while, then caught a few interesting hands. Once of them, its folded to me on the button, and I look down to see QJs. As I reach for 4 reds, the dealer accidentally exposes a queen from a mucked hand. The BB is confused and thinks its a misdeal, and shows his QTo. The dealer says explains that it wasn't a misdeal, and I raise it up anyway. The young woman in the SB kinda complains "oh you're taking full advantage of the situation", and I say no I was going to raise anyway, and say I will show my hand after. This got her to fold and I figured they both would, but amazingly the BB calls! The flop comes KKJ. I jokingly say hmmm, what do I do now, and toss 2 reds in. He calls, saying that I'm gonna cry if a 9 falls. I wonder what he would have done, if the 9 actually did fall, and I bet and re-raised into him with that paired board. Even if he calls I have 8 outs to win and 3 to tie, and can still try to scare him off after the river, because he has no idea which cards might give me a boat. Anyway the 9 did not fall on the turn or river. He folded to my river bet and I showed my hand.

Next hand I open raise in the CO with KTs, 2 callers, flop comes AAx. I bet, first caller drops, and the same guy from the last hand check-calls me twice and folds to the river bet as rags come on 4th and 5th. I think my hand was good anyway. Guy to my right says it would have been nice to have an ace there, I quietly say "yeah it would have" back to him, and muck my hand.

5 minutes to 3 I get the BB, and am told I will be moved. I say I'm leaving after the hand anyway, so I see the flop, fold to a bet and get up, down about $50.

So I finished +$60. Spent about $500 on room and meals, but its all good. Got some good live game experience, only my 2nd time playing poker in a B+M casino, with the first being a few hours in the Taj when I was just starting, in December or so.

No play tomorrow as I check out at noon and drive back to eastern Long Island for Easter dinner with the folks.

(sorry about the lack of editing, it's late and I really should have been asleep an hour ago).

By my calculations, you got to the room around 1:00 and there was no 5/10 list? Is this an extension of april fools? Usually the list is 75 names deep at this point and will take you 6 hours to get seated.

Maybe fewer 2/4 and 4/8 players are interested in 5/10 now since they are on the other board.

I think the combination of the post-major-tournament time, table expansion, and board re-organization has quieted down the place some.

It was quiet on Thrusday night when I was down there.

Peace,

I told you I was tired. He actually had 8 outs to a straight (aces and 9s), and I had 4 to fill up and 3 to chop. He might have been assuming the ace would fill me up.
