I continue to struggle with these kinds of hands.

Am I raising to "protect my hand" in the right spots?

Is it even worth the hassle here, or am I just throwing good money away by playing it like this?

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, Button folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (5 SB) J/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (5 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, MP1 folds, MP3 folds, SB calls.

Turn: (4.50 BB) 7/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

River: (6.50 BB) 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 8.50 BB
Main Pot: 8.50 BB, between SB and Hero.

I think this play is best if the SB is really aggressive and would bet draws and weaker hands than mine, correct?

How would you approach it against a typical Party micro-limit player and/or table?
