View Full Version : 6-12 Nor Cal: Hand #4 - KK in SB

I hold KK in SB.

MP open limps, all fold to me. I raise, BB calls - 3 see flop.

BB - huge fish

MP - decent player - probably the best player at the table at that time

Flop: 744 two toned

I check, BB bets, MP raises, I 3-bet, both call.

Turn: 744 - 7 (no flsh draw)

I bet, BB calls, MP pauses briefly then raises.

Comments welcome, results to follow.

Gerald,

I call this one down, I think you are up against two middle pocket pairs, that are larger than 7s. I expect the river to go check, check, check, you show, muck, muck.

Good luck,

Play well,

Bob T.

You're beat.

The MP has to know you have an overpair based on your pre-flop raise and flop 3-bet. It's always possible that he's overplaying 88 or 99. Or, maybe he has an Ace and thinks that he can blow you off AK.

The lack of a preflop raise by MP would indicate to me that he doesn't have AA. Based on your actions, you have announced you have an overpair to the board, and MP does not seem to care.

Would MP limp with something like A7s, A4s, or 87s? Not to mention the possibility of 77 or 44...I wouldn't want to fold here, but I think I would.

On the turn I bet, BB calls, MP pauses briefly then raises with the board being:

744 - 7 (2 of the same suit)

- I know MP is a solid player and BB is a fish. On the flop I put MP on a flush draw hoping to knock me out and gain control. (I thought 'what are the chances he's holding a 4 or 7?') When the turn paired the 7 and he raised my bet, I just shutdown (i.e. check/call mode) hoping he was overplaying a flush draw or overpair.

Results:

I check, BB mucks.

River: 7447 - A (no flush draw)

I check, he bets, I call.

He shows A7s for (not the flush draw suit, of course). I muck, again.
