This is my first trip report so bear with me. My wife and I arrived in Vegas on Monday about noon and arrived at Mandalay Bay about 12:30p.m. They didn't have are room ready yet, so we checked our bags and met my sister and brother in law for lunch. About an hour later we went to the room to find it a complete mess but found a maid to clean it right away.
After settling in, we all walked to the Venecian to do the Gondola ride, Sisters idea and to check it out. This is our third trip to vegas but my sister and husbands first.
I convince them to take the bus back to the hotel to eat a quick dinner and then my wife and I were off to play a little poker.
After about a fifteen minute wait we both get seated at the 4-8 table with a half kill with 1-2 blinds. I'm cold decked the first four hours, but my wife is up about fifty bucks. I cuold not believe how loose and easy the game is with about seven people taking the flop. I ask for a table change since the wife seems pretty comfortable and is playing well.
I soon find out the I should have stayed at the old table because mine had three tough players. At this point I'm down about fifty bucks and still looking for cards. I finally look down and see two red aces UTG and raise it to six. I'm glad to see my raise got a lot of respect with six people taking the flop. Flop is 27J rainbow and I bet four with three callers. Q comes on the turn and I bet eight with only one caller. The river is another 2 so I bet and get raised. I pay the guy off to see the very powerful 6-2 suited. I ended buying another rack and get dealt A-10 suited. It is raised and I call with a flop of KJ7. I check to the raiser and I decide to call for four and catch the Q on the turn. I bet he raises and I reraise with the nuts and hope the board doesn't pair because I know he has trips. Of course the K falls and I pay him of to see quad K's. He gets the huge pot
+ 233 doller bonus. He offers me fifty dollers, but I turn it down. Now I'm down 150 and my wife comes over and said she's going to bed up a rack. Its about 1:30am and I know I should go to bed but can't let my wife rub it in so I stay. I go on a rush and go back to the room at 7:30am up 200.
I roll out of bed about noon and go to the pool for about an hour. I enjoy the eye candy and we meet up with my sister and take them around the strip. We take in Mamma Mia that night (great show) and head to bed early.
On the final day I got up at 7:30am to enter the daily tourny. I play 4-8 until the tourney begins and am up 15. I am one off the final table and am the chip leader at my table when this hand appears. I dealt KQo and raise to 400. Blinds are 100-200, big blind goes all in and I have him covered by 275. I decide to call and he flips over K6 /images/graemlins/heart.gif. You guessed it, he hit his flush on the turn and I'm forced to push it all in on the next hand(big blind) with 7-2. No I didn't win.
I played for a few more hours at 4-8 when this hand turned up. I raise with pocket nines and get several callers and flop trips. There is a four flush on the board by the river and I make a crying call when I guy says I have a straght. I see he has 7-6 and only a five would make the straight but the dealer scoops up the cards before checking it and two guys +me start telling him it wasn't a straight. The dealer goes on break and I told the new dealer what happened and he calls the manager. The manager tells me there is nothing he can do since I didn't stop the game when it happened. He finally agrees to check the tape and tells me the guy had the five. I'm pissed and as I'm leaving the guy next to me tells me they never checked the tape and he knew the guy had 7-6. Whatever!
We headed to the stratosphere for dinner at the restaurant and get seated by some drunk in jeans and t-shirt. I leave to let the manager know the guy is swearing and causing a scene so he calls security. They let the guy stay and when his meal comes he claims he ordered something different and treatens to leave, Thank god they escort him out, but he did get three free drinks out of the deal. We got dessert free, sos all in all good dinner. Only in vegas.
We head back to Mandalay after I culdn't convince my wife to play somewhere else and wait to get into a 4-8 game. I'm up a rack when I hear the dealer ask if anyone wanted to play 10-20. I about jumped out of my seat and ten of us got seated right away. The guy sitting to my right must of had some pull because as soon as he showed up the game was spread. He also knew all the dealers + staff. First hand I get pocket rockets and am up 100 just like that.
Most embarrassing situation came up where I called a raise out of the big blind with three callers with J-8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif. Flop has two hearts with the ace and king of hearts on the board. Raiser checks loose player bets and I call. Turn is the 8 so I pick up some more outs and loose player bets a gain and we both call. River is a blank so the loose player bets and I figure he could have been on a draw and call. I thought the player next to me called as he showed me pocket queens and I said its good show him my cards and start to throw them in the muck when he yells wait!!! The dealer starts saying are you sure you want to do that? I had already let the cars go when the loose %^**(^ shows 6-5 of hearts for the missed flush draw. This was the topic of conversation for the next ten minutes, but I didn't go on tilt. There were two horrible players in the first and second seat and everyone was taking thier turns hammering them. One guy left after losing five racks and the other busted out shortly after. A dealer from the Bellagio came in with an Ultimate bet hat on and took the first seat. The guy to my right tells me to watch out for this guy. The game breaks a little later and I leave the table +630.!!! This was the best 10-20 game I have ever been in and even the dealers were licking thier chops to get in the game.
I played 4-8 for a few more hours and hit quad nines for a seventy dollar bonus. Some one had hit them earlier but I got a fifty doller bonus because it was between 3-5 am. I got drawn out on a guy on the river on inside staights four times and this guy hit a sraight flush for 130 dollar bonus. He caught another guy with the ace high flush and they bet back and forth until the other guy figured it out. Biggest rush I've ever seen someone get on. Played for an hour with 100 dollars on 4-8 table and walked away with 700+. He was a lucky s.o.b.
All in all a great trip as we ended up+1100 over the three nights and had a great time doing it. Interested if anyone was playing at Mandalay on Mon and Wed night?
