XP system restore

if i use this option, will it get rid of the virus that i caught after the restore point?

i wouldn't of thought so, its not very reliable and viruses are tricky beasts. Use/buy some anti-virus software, its the only real solution (unless its W32 which can be removed by a tool downloadable from tin'ternet).

i'm not sure, but you can get a good free anti-virus programme from http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php which will almost certainly get rid of it

That is the best virus software I have ever used, pay or free. The others just do the same thing and cost you big bucks.

It's not a dependable way to remove a virus. You need to use some sort of anti-virus software to be sure.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ is the free one I use.
