Did i play this too aggressive? I thought he had a big pair AA-JJ by the preflop raise. With the other caller i decided to play and not muck. Hit my set and still lost. Any comments appreciated. It was my first hand at table.

You lose big when you lose set over set. It happens. I think I would have played the same way putting him on a overpair AA-JJ. I've seen plenty of players raise big when they have overpairs and the flop comes rainbow and ragged.

here's a general rule: you can never play a set too aggressively.

Agree with the others here. When you have a set your only decision is how to get your money into the center and have them call it.

It wouldn't matter on this hand, but a big raise on party from someone that's not obviously a maniac means they have AA-22, AK, AQ, AJ, AT, A9, KQ, KJ, KT, QJ, QT or JT normally. There are some good tight players that have the goods when they raise but you can literally see any of these and more on Party.

As has been said when you flop a set your chips are going to the middle.
