I'm turning to the Zoo for help. Having the rare luxury of a full day at home I just entered the Party 5+1 buy in No Limit tourney at 10:30.
Here's the thing..I play 2/4 limit games. I could use some advice on how to maximize my lifespan in this thing. I take it that I should play very very tight untill about half the field is thinned.
If I get AA, KK or AK should I go all in pre-flop or wait untill the flop?
Is there an online lesson that I could read real quick?
I'm gonna kick ass!

Got KK in BB in first orbit. Put in minimal raise pre-flop and flop came 44K! Small raise on turn got 2 callers then went all in on the river and busted some guy out who had a pair of 10's.

I'm grtflone:

3 Suggestions:

1. Don't minraise with a big hand like KK preflop. It's asking for trouble by allowing a bunch crappy hands to come along for cheap. You hit a perfect board this time and got away with it.

2. Don't play the $5 + 1 tourneys since the rake is so high percentage-wise. Either play the $10 + 1 at Party or go to UB or Stars (and maybe Paradise??) where you can play $5 + .50 tourneys.

3. Try posting these in the one-table tournament forum. You'll get more and better responses there.

Busted out like a total sucker.
KQo
Flop KJx
Turn A: everyone checks to me. I go all in.
Loose to someone w/ AJ.
I really suck.

It was a multi table, not sit and go.
In a tilt induced frenzy I bought into the 20+2 quallifier for the million dollar guaranteed tourney on 4/17.

Prickly Pete,

this is a multi table tournament, not a sit n go. I agree that you should raise quite heavily with AA and KK to avoid crap hands getting in and hitting hidden two pairs on you. If you just limp or min raise and the flop comes T73 you think you're golden, but somone could easily have T7 or T3 especially if they are in the blind.

Ah my mistake. Didn't catch it was a multi. Good luck on the qualifier and go get some advice from the Fossilman in the multi forum. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
