What are the odds of a losing a single hand of blackjack, assuming your not card counting and dont have a clue what two cards are coming out next?

It depends on a number of factors including the number of decks and house rules (e.g. double after splits allowed), as well as how well you play of course. If you play basic strategy in a favorable game it is essentialy a coin flip.

because of extra payoff for BJ, even if the casino had no edge, P(L)>.5

Not so because P(push) = 8%. P(L) = 48%.

P(L) = 47%.

Based on what? If you hit until you bust then P(L) = 100%.

This has been posted (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=probability&Number=447 460&Forum=probability&Words=blackjack&Match=Entire %20Phrase&Searchpage=1&Limit=25&Old=1year&Main=433 663&Search=true#Post447460) before. Of course if you play like an idiot you can change this, I'm assuming correct BS or counting.

Has a complete breakdown for an Atlantic rules game. I imagine it's pretty close for all other forms of BJ.

As a BJ dealer, I think I can give a somewhat educated guess. Generally speaking the house considers itself to have a one percent or less advantage. I am not sure how big of a difference the number of decks has unless you are counting then less decks makes a better count. Probably the biggest difference to the regular player is the house rules and I sure there is information on the effects of the different rules somewhere. I have never looked that deep into it.
