headed to vegas easter evening late and staying for two nights. will play a little poker (maybe two short sessions?), but im bringing the wife and she would like to have a good/nice time. basically driving out so should be quite mobile. interested in really good (upscale/expensive is fine, but QUALITY is most important and i dont wear ties or dress shoes) restaraunts, romantic and/or fun places to go/things to do (that gondola ride through the venetian mall is not really our thing. neither is the star spangled banner light show at fremont street.), anything else you might think is cool and details please if you dont mind.

are there any hot springs near vegas? we're interested in hot springs lately. also best place to get a superior massage (little tami chun's oriental XXX massage downtown doesnt count). and where should we stay? i was thinking rio but is that too dumpy? we dont really care about the lobby area.. more interested in nice pool/jacuzzi and nice rooms. not having to spend $500 a night would be preferable.

stay at the NYNY they have very nice jacuzzi rooms for inexpensive compared to the other mega resorts. Then take your wife to see zumanity.
I also would recomend the lounge light at the bellagio very nice, if price is no object.

Olive at the Bellagio is a pleasant experience. I recommend a patio table if the weather is nice. The food is good too.

The Rio rooms are quite nice, imho. I had a normal room when I stayed there (i.e. not a suite) and it was the largest room I have had in Vegas, plus we had a mini fridge etc in the room. The casino itself is typical Vegas.

I have had about five or so massages ever and the best one by far was at the Paris spa. I have two friends who just got massages there this last weekend, and they have had tons of massages at expensive resorts everywhere (various upscale hotels), and they also said the Paris massages are the best they have ever had. My masseuse was named "Eli" and I would easily recommend her, however given the consistency of reports of the spa, I wouldn't worry about getting a particular appointment.

For hotels, the Bellagio and Venietian are clearly the best.

Put the damn tie and shoes on and go to Delmonico's at the Venietian.

"stay at the NYNY they have very nice jacuzzi rooms for inexpensive compared to the other mega resorts."

are they real jacuzzi rooms or just those extra large tubs in the bathrooms they have everywhere nowadays?

Think about the Palms. I have not stayed there but I think it would be alright. My woman liked the haircut she got there. I'm sure the spa stuff is good. My wife also liked the spa at the rio which she went to a couple of times, but she says it went downhill. She didn't like the spa at the venetian all that well actually. Needless to say the spa at the IP last weekend gets lower grades from her. And the big bathtub room at the IP was not all that great. She says spa at orleans was good. We have had a good time seeing O at bellagio then drinking martinis and such at their jazz bar. Although I think they have changed that.

Go to Delminicos. You don't have to wear a tie, but a tank top and tennis shoes won't cut it. Excellent restaurant.

Is Delmonico's no tie...no enter?

I've gone in jeans and a tee shirt.

And felt MASSIVELY out of place.

But they let me in.

From what I've heard of Zumanity, your wife better be into the erotic arts...Overall, it seems suited to younger couples. Am I right?

Venetian is the choice if you don't mind spending the $$. I've stayed in most of the hotels and their rooms are by far the nicest. Great spa there as well.

Too bad you have the wife in tow, I'll be flying solo that weekend as the g/f will be out of town.

I would add Mandalay Bay to the list of hotels - I've heard the new tower which is all-suites is open. The crowd is young and not too business oriented. The pool area is great - especially the topless section. They have great restaurants - Aureole, Border Grill, etc. The Poker area is OK, not the big B.

Also, spring for upscale casual clothes and you'll never feel out of place anywhere in Vegas.

I'd also vote for Mandalay Bay. My wife likes MB because the rooms are bright and pleasant to be in. We stayed at Mirage another time and she thought the rooms were much darker. She also loves the spa at MB.

A fun place to eat (but not super fancy) is the Samba Brazilian Steakhouse at Mirage. The Rodizio is very cool, they bring you a variety of different Brazilian barbecue stuff to try (chicken, pork, fish, sausage, steak). They just keep bringing it until you tell them to stop.

Have fun.

you dont have to look nice anywhere in vegas and if you're married ther's no reason to anyway. you see...the thing about vegas is you never know whos stacked to the gills with cash so most places dont try to guess and just accomodate everyone. ive been to delmonicos in flip flops and a tshirt before and no-one said boo. going out clubbing is different...sorta. if you're a vip gambler you can show up to ghostbar in a burlap sack and theyll happily escort you to yor table...if you're a group of single guys who think a "dime" is .10 i dont care if ur in a tuxedo you're not gettin in.

Highly recommend
Lawry's Prime Rib on Flamingo RD great prime rib and good atmosphere.
Rosemary's in Summerlin great food, romantic ambiance. Great wine list and bottles are half price on Sudnay nights.

"the thing about vegas is you never know whos stacked to the gills with cash so most places dont try to guess and just accomodate everyone."

basically just like southern california.

"going out clubbing is different..."

there will be none of that anyways. that's something skinny single people do.

It's a little old school, but I still think Hugo's is my first choice in vegas restaurants. None of the headlines that the newer joints have, but Hugo's always treats its patrons with class and the food is a winner.

hahaha...a while back people tried to guess my weight (very weird) and i think the consensus was around 300 lbs. sooo...fat people can "shake it like a polaroid picture" as well...although my appearance is much more huck seed than doyle brunson.
