In the BB with two black 3's. Family pot, I call.

10 to see the flop. 2-5-6 rainbow. SB checks, I figure this probably missed most of the table, so I bet my small pair and gutshot. Anybody check here? All fold to cut-off and button who call, SB folds.

Turn is a 3D, putting 2 diamonds on the board, and a possible straight. I bet, cuttoff folds, Button calls.

River is a 9, no flush. I bet, button calls. He shows A-9 suited, and my hand is good.

My question for the board:

Is betting my 3's into a large field, where my set could make someone a straight, too risky a play? Or is this a must bet situation with the additional gutshot outs?

A good reason to bet the flop is to get a stiff 4 to fold on the flop so that if you catch a miracle 3 on the turn, there won't be any straights out there.
