I'm looking to purchase a custom set of clay chips. I'm currently leaning towards www.thepokerchipcompany.com. (http://www.thepokerchipcompany.com.) Does anyone have any comments to make about their #1006 chips? Here is a link... http://www.thepokerchipcompany.com/Casino_Style_Chips/Casino_Style_1006/casino_style_1006.htm

On their main page they show close ups of these chips and I noticed a small bump on this particular chip. Does that spot mean these chips are not true clay chips, althought the site claims they are, or does it mean something else? http://www.thepokerchipcompany.com/cents50lrg.jpg

Much thanks to anyone with an answer or information!

The only chips that I've run across that have dice on the edges are plastic, or are plastic with meta slugs embedded.

i have a sample of those chips, they are pretty good, sound and feel ALMOST like all clay, but I also have a sample of all clay chips... http://www.casinosupply.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=90-98&Category_Code=UC
but these cost extra to stamp. however when i put both of them in my hand they feel pretty similar. hope this helps.

I bought one set of the composite chips from 5stardeal on ebay and liked them so much I bought another set. Yes, they are plastic with a slug in the middle but for a set of five hundred its only about $100-$110 including shipping for the set. These are good chips and really are all you need for a home game. However, if you have some disposable income, than I would invest in the clay chips.

I agree with Jonnyv. I bought mine from 5startdeal and they were great. Unless your playing high stakes and or charging a rake I wouldn't blow all that money on chips.

Call them and they'll send you a sample.

For the money, I think that these chips are fantastic and are much nicer than the 11.5g "clay" chips that are otherwise available. Even for a low-stakes game (.5/$1, $1/$2), I'd say that the extra investment is well worth it.

Good rule of thumb: Don't spend more per chip than the value of the chip. i.e. don't spend $1 for a chip with a $.25 denomination.

I recently ordered, but haven't yet received, a set of the #1003 chips. My only comment on the #1006 chips is why would you want dice on your poker chips?

I agree, prairie. I think it looks kinda stupid but its hardly noticable and the chips are really nice in all other aspects.

If money is no object...

Home Poker Chips - Custom Chips (http://www.homepokerchips.com)

I host a weekly game. I purchased a set of these and I'm completely satisfied. I had 2 other sets of chips, but was always worried about people cashing out their own chips (I had a few extras). These are completely secure... Noone else can purchase your chips. They are ProTech chips (same chips that are used in most of the newer casinos).

Unless you're a graphic artist with significant experience designing poker chips, you're likely to pay a good deal for customized chips that you're somewhat unhappy with at the end of the day.

This is BS. I paid ZERO dollars for my artwork on custom protechs and they are exactly as I wanted. The artwork was done by the companies artists, revised three times, and approved by ME. Some places will charge you an arm and a leg but there are sites that offer these services free or inexpensively.

I gave you the benfit of the doubt before - now I'll say it:

STOP SPAMMING

Whoops looks like I missed some spam, anyway Orange, mind telling me where you got yours from? Thanks in advance. All the sites I've found want atleast $50 for art, some as high as $130

I got my order yesterday and am extremely happy with them.

The only issue I had was that 6 of the 500 were imperfect (2 scratched 4 poorly stamped). I emailed them this morning and they promised to have replacement chips at my door within a week.

I still like the protech chips better, but for the price these are tough to beat.
