After playing mainly limit, I’m trying to improve my no limit game. Here is a recent hand:

Unplanned quick 3 person winner take all mini-tournament.

I'm now heads-up with a reasonable not overly aggressive player.

I complete from SB.

BB(10 chips) raises 25 (not terribly unusual, but we had been pretty passive pre-flop).

I call with KdQd.

Flop: Qs6s4d.

BB bets 30. (pot is now 100)

At this point I have 120 chips he has 80.

I re-raise all-in.

I'm most interested in comments about my post flop play.

Seems reasonable to me. I might have raised initially.

Of course knowing the types of hands he has raised with PF or not raised PF would help. If he only raises with QQ+ then you are in trouble.

Post flop is fine, IMO. You have top pair and a good kicker which is usually a very good hand heads up. I would echo Ken's comments about the player, however. If this has been very passive, you need to hope that he was willing to raise with AK, AJ, 88 or something similar.

And I'd raise with this preflop nearly every time...

He thought about it for a while then called.

He showed AQo.

Turn and river were no help.

I lost my remaining 10 chips on the next hand.

At the end of the day you were doomed to lose that hand whatever you did - I mean you weren't going to fold heads up with K-Q suited, and there aren't too many better flops you could have got.

You were just unlucky that he found A-Q.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I didn't have a good read on him, but heads-up he raises with a decent range of hands pre-flop.

Like Simon said, with KQs v. AQo, I was doomed to lose a lot on this hand.

Thanks for you input.

Raising pre-flop certainly is something I do a lot here. However, with the chips basically even, I was trying to get (much) more than just the blinds so I limped in this time.
