I've got a really stupid question on figuring one's outs... An example has calculated outs like so:

You hold: A/images/graemlins/heart.gif J/images/graemlins/spade.gif
Flop is: 5/images/graemlins/club.gif T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Total Outs: Queen Gut Shot (4) + Ace Overcard (3) - Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif or A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2) = 5

Why exactly are Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif and A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif counted out?

Thanks

Well - tough to say as you have the best hand at the moment.

I'd count 7 outs and would not worry about the diamonds . . . YET.

At this point I'm betting and throwing outs out the window.

because the A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif or Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif the would be the 3rd diamond on the board, giving anyone holding 2 diamonds a flush.

Also realize that the aces, while giving you top pair, give a player holding QJ a straight.

If you are lookng at outs ot the nuts, then you have 3, the non-diamond queens, as they would give you an ace-high str8 with no flush on board, but then you need a blank on the river to be sure it will hold out.
