My friend won a pot with two red queens. Then after immediately doing his best Farha final table impression (second to last hand..."I had a big pocket pair...queens in the hole", he got the red ladies again on the next hand and they held again.
What are the odds of being dealt those two identical hands back to back?
What are the odds you get the red queens back to back?
thanks

The odds of getting an exact 2-card combo (e.g. a repeat of your last hand) are 1325:1. The odds of getting a particular combo (e.g. Red Queens) two hands in a row are 1,758,275:1.

Keats13 is correct that it's a 1.76-million-to-1 shot (approximately). But that's the odds against your being dealt red queens on the next two hands.

If you play a lot of holdem for several years, then it's actually pretty likely that some time you'll be dealt red queens on two consecutive hands. The probability is 97.3% that if you show the hand both times, someone will make a joke about your keeping the cards in your sleeve (playing online, only 93.1%).

You're assuming a full table. It's only about 86% if the game is shorthanded.
