I've been playing profitably on-line now for over a year. I want to expand my game. I've been throwing out stuff like 4d 5d on the button with a raise and 6 handed.

The more i analyze suited connectors, the more I think I should call these with more than 4 people in the pot.

My analysis:
Flopping a "winning hand" - 2pr or better is like 1 in 25 (4%). Flopping great draws (4 to flush or outside str8 draws) is another 16%. So, 1 in 5 gives you a great or working hand. Of course, higher flushes abound.

Overall question: What is the cutoff for suited connectors? I play in B&M casinos, and every hand is 8 handed.

By playing these type of hands in a raised pot, you are reducing your implied odds by more than half. You will typically have to pay at least 3 bets to see a turn card, because someone will usually bet the flop when there was a raise before the flop. With so many people in the pot, you are likely to be in a bad position between the original raiser and whoever made a hand on the flop, so you could get trapped for more than on bet, and then get beat by a higher hand when you make yours.

None of this is as likely to happen when there is no raising before the flop.

One could say that more peple will stay to pay you off because of the larger pot, but I would only take advantage of that with nut draws where your chances of holding up are much higher against larger field going further againts you.
