Hey guys,

Does anyone know what country has beautiful beaches, year round hot weather, with good ring and tournaments games, and cost of living is not too high?

I am planning to make a getaway in the next upcoming winter as where I live is cold and rainy in the winter.

Sounds a lot like Vegas to me if you don't mind driving a few hours to the beach.

beautiful beaches = high cost of living

Let's see:

Sweden:
* Beautiful beaches - for perhaps 2 months of the year
* Year round hot weather - Hahahahah!
* Good ring and tourneys - There are only four legal places to play, and even though they are quite soft with lots of losers, table selection frankly sucks.
* Cost of living - minimum 30%+ taxes

What on Earth am I still doing in Sweden??

How about the USA?

We have beautiful beaches in Hawaii, year round hot weather in Florida, good poker games in California and Nevada, and I hear the cost of living is really low in Arkansas.

Or did you want those in closer proximity?

California would be a dream place to go if the cost of living isn't so high. Everything there is almost double from where I live. Las Vegas would an ideal place. I be in Florida in a sec, if it was known as a poker town like Cali! U.S will cost a quite a bit more than when I live(Canada), due to the exchange rate.

You are right. It's a long shot. But i have to try! Man wish a country like Thailand has good live poker, that be so sweet!

Aruba would be a sweet place to play at. It has one of the best poker action I ever seen, except the dam rake is like 10% up to $15.

Sounds like B.C, Canada, except we don't have tournaments.
Maybe you want to join me on my trip?

Mississippi Gulf Coast is worth considering.

spain has good poker ? home games or casino ?
In Madrid I hear there are a couple of tables in the local casino with spread limit hold'em, but from a Mortensen bio I heard that there is a lot of action in the home game front. Any info would be appreciated - I've been thinking of spending some time in Spain, but I've never actually played there. I do love it there from a lifestyle point of view !

Anyone know anything about poker in Italy ? or Switzerland ? These are some other options for my travels.

thanks,

Bubu

Did anyone ever see that Connan O'brian skit where he made a fake reality show cslled Sweedish Dentist (July 2002)? One of the funniest things I've seen on TV IMO.

Anyone know if the Bahamas or another Carribean area island has a decent casino that spreads good poker games?

I'm doing the same as you are. I'm going Barcelona in 3 weeks for around about 3 months. It's the hottest place in europe right now, has lots of beaches but the cost of living isn't very cheap.

They have live poker there but i hear the rake is too high, but i'l be playing online anyway.

Australia was nice, i didn't get down to Melbourne though (that's the only place with poker casino in australia). It's also getting a bit late for hot weather there now.

'.. country like Thailand has good live poker'

All gambling is illegal in Thailand at the moment, but they are pressing to get a casino at bangkok. The islands in teh Gulf of Thailand are some of the nicest places ever. Ko Samui (getting worse) Ko Tao (no airport, so is still nice) are all perfect for living and you could pay online for a living there.
